Wtf is that from? Is that Resident Alien?
I’m really digging the irony of this thread…
with open('program.c', 'w') as f:
f.write(
"""I'm not actually going to copy down the program...
But you get the idea of the joke.
Right?""")
Isnt zsh

Well. Yeah, if you want to learn the shiniest new features, you’ll need the shiniest new references.
But for a new user, for whom Python is probably one of the first languages they learn, a 3.8 reference won’t give them much trouble for a while.
I say this as a novice Python user tho.
Has python changed that much for a new learner that a 3.8 tutorial is worthless in 3.13?
I don’t think so…there’s new features that wouldn’t be taught, but most everything from Hello World to decorators and lambdas were present in both.
Now, if you have a python 2 guide…yeah. That’s worthless. That shows its flaws during “Hello World”.
You reminded me me of when I was going through my dystopian fiction phase of reading the first time…I had a big stack of said novels to buy at Barnes and Noble.
They asked if I wanted to sign up for their loyalty card and I was so taken aback. Like…no…I do not want to be in your list.
I hope when we come out on the other side of this the rest of the world isn’t too mad at us. Maybe Greece sends over all their yayas to give us hugs and lamb. That’d be nice.
These people couldn’t connect the dots to pass kindergarten.
No…but I am being hyperbolic. I definitely interface with more transmasc and nonbinary coders than I do with cisgender female coders. This may also be because, again, cultural reasons.
There certainly are more cisgender female coders, but they are still a minority group by a big amount, and they tend to not draw much attention to themselves.
This isn’t even about gaming, necessarily.
Girls who code are rare. There are probably more AFAB coders at my work than those who identify as female. And a hell of a lot more men.
And I’m in a progressive city in a progressive state.
I work in IT, and I think there is one woman out of 50 employees on my corner of the org chart, and that’s the CIO’s admin assistant.
I’m certain it’s culture, and it doesn’t just go for programming, it goes for almost all of STEM. There was a recent “Stuff You Should Know” episode about toy chemistry sets, and they made it a point to talk about the marketing, and how it always was with boys, for boys. My son, 8 year old kid, says “that’s just wrong! Girls can do all that stuff!”. He’s got it figured out.
Jesus was a rebel. He hated the state. Assuming he was a real person, he was a bastion of hope against an authoritative rule.
Considering literacy rates among the lower classes ~2000 years ago, it’s not really surprising there was a lot of oral tradition until he was co-opted to control the people. And oral traditions usually lead to exaggerated elements, such as miracles.
Think about what we’d be saying about George Washington or any of the other founding fathers, if reading and writing weren’t commonplace, and most of what we knew of him was oral tradition. Hell, even despite the writings, we still have a heavily romanticized view of them.
Ah. The Holy Bible. Literal word of God (Edited and abridged by man.)
Because even their perfect God can’t write a perfect book.
Honestly I thought the treevag was the post. Didn’t even see the racoon.
Ugh, me, with a shy bladder, at intermission during Hamilton.
My eyes were turning yellow at Guns and Ships. Really thought I wouldn’t make it. The line at the men’s room was huge. Get in. Get to urinal. Can’t.
Ugh.
End up leaving with bladder still full and getting back into line to get a stall and finish just in time. Couldn’t even get another overpriced beer for the second act.
That’s just self checkout with fewer steps.
I guess that’s what any vending machine is though.
They just got lucky timing the market. Nothing more.
My comments are just the code that didn’t work but I don’t want to delete yet because I might make it work except I never will be cause I already rewrote it so it does.
Wanna hear a dirty story?
