This is what Genki is known for: reverse engineering something to make a product for it. Their original covert dock for the Switch was made using reverse engineering specifications of the official Nintendo dock.

I don’t get the point of companies hiding everything they’re working on until it’s done. It seems like if they just showed what they were working on as it developed they would have more hype when it released and also get feedback along the way so they would be less likely to release a product that fails

Sounds nice in theory. But if you release s early product like the switch you’ll get a million contradicting pieces of feedback and everyone will get mad because they’re not being heard

I would not have assumed otherwise. Anyone who Nintendo sends pre-production hardware is under a mountain of NDAs and would be too afraid of losing a contract to say anything not in a Nintendo press release.

Genki probably knows someone who snuggled a set of calipers onto a factory floor. Nintendo could have had a note passed along asking the leaker and Genki to release their comment.

That doesn’t make too much sense to me… why risk their company’s reputation on something like that?

Is it possible that Mr. Nintendo went and talked to them about what they are doing, so they back tracked?

It makes sense as publicity. Personally I wasn’t aware this brand even existing until now. I bet I’m not the only one.

I think a lot of companies are assuming they know what the succesor of the Switch is based on the leaks. But as I said in a previous post, until Nintendo shows something, it’s all speculation and rumors.

It can also be that Nintendo gave fake prototypes to companies to find out which one is leaking information.

Nintendo could reveal anything, it could be completely different from the Switch (which would be hilarious). I remember the NX times when leaks were coming out here and there, and they were absolutely ridiculous compared to what the Switch actually is. It’s more about being first than being right these days with information 🤷‍♂️

It’s possible. Genki isn’t an unknown brand, but the amount of publicity to be one of the first to release information about Switch isn’t small either.

Heh, yeah, actual reveal could be anything. I am trying to stay away from leaks though, so even though I have glimpsed at some pictures, I am not reading any details.

I’ve been avoiding paying too much attention to leaks too, but I think we’re not really missing out. They all seem to be “It’s a bigger, more powerful Switch”.

Yeah, and people seem to be complaining about being underwhelmed with it, while I remember previously everyone was saying Nintendo should just give us a more power Switch, instead of trying to add another gimmick. Why are they not happy to finally get what they want?

I could be reading wrong people, or maybe it’s just minority, but saw a few comments along these lines.

I’ve seen this too, some people will never be happy, whether they get what they asked for or the complete opposite… 😅
