Sometimes people just want to be left alone. There’s no solution to grief besides time. You can’t materially improve this position but you can be around if they want to talk or just be around people.

A medical doctor is a well regarded and well numerated profession. They are pillars of society. They are trusted and revered in a way that teachers rarely are. The status of a doctor in the field of computer science or engineering is not much more than someone with a common or garden degree. Nobody knows what a research question is or how science is advanced. Everyone knows House and Grays Anatomy. Fuck those fake doctors with their models and predictive power. We don’t revere truth tellers, we revere celebrity. We want dat bedside rizz. That’s how Dr Shipman killed us. That’s why Professor Nutt was fired from his post.

Why is it that people sneer at non-medical doctors? Far more fraud is committed by the bois with stethoscopes around their shoulders. People be falling for that bedside rizz and getting played like a fiddle.

It would be easier to do if they came down with a mystery illness.

The situation where a candidate is rejected because they don’t have relevant experience is often decided by people who don’t have that experience either. The last thing I want is a job where I immediately know how to do it. That’s often the reason to leave - it’s boring and not a challenge any more.

The market is probably flat right now and that’s the reason there’s no jobs. You have to hang in there for a bit and wait for an upturn.

It’s already popular with a good userbase. Popular with idiots? Hopefully not.

Describe the work you are doing and the equipment you use. Talk about the fact that you have received training to use this equipment. You don’t need to say anything else. If your next employer wants you to be certified on their particular machines they will train you.

Not for profit would be its singular difference. The devs have attempted to recreate original Reddit and largely succeeded.

The aspects of it that could do with improvement are addiction potential. We shouldn’t have endless scrolling and perhaps have timers to limit exposure.

It’s still male dominated but generally non toxic for your average white guy in tech.

I feel blessed that I like my current job. Good manager, interesting work, limited amounts of bureaucracy. Most of this is a lucky coincidence but there are some things we can do. I had to explain many times to people which tasks I’m good at and which ones they should ask other people to do. I regularly defend this position. I set aside the morning for creative work only, no meetings, no admin, just thinking and solving. In the afternoon I down tools and do something physical, outside in daylight. A regular sleep cycle is absolutely critical for the maintenance of health and mood. Fresh food and companionship. Regular meditation. Do the basics well. These are the things that have made me happy.

Fear of rejection can manifest in this way. We can’t be rejected if we sabotage the relationship before the person finds out who we really are. It’s a sign of low self esteem and depression.

Chewing coca leaves seems to have a long history that continues to this day. I hear it’s common practice among long distance drivers of the present and it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that this has been the case ever since people made long transits on foot or horseback. Not sure we can call it cocaine though, isn’t that term reserved for the hydrochloride salt form of the drug?

I like them used sparingly. There’s art to using just the right emoji in the right spot that conveys a message in a way that is difficult to achieve with text.

That orange party sure does win a lot of elections.
