Have you tried the mouse and keyboard mod for GoldenEye? I imagine it makes everything incredibly easy but it could be different enough to justify a playing one more time
Big fan of SBC gaming, open source engine recreations/source ports, gaming in general, alternative operating systems, and all things modding.
Trying to post and comment often in an effort to add to Lemmy’s growth.

Having to rely on reading and retaining information in manuals is a big thing that keeps me away from a lot of DOS games
I was considering playing Warframe a while back because I was a fan of Dark Sector but the reviews I saw online mentioned an incredible amount of grinding. Do you think it’s worth picking up for someone who isn’t into that kind of thing?
Have you ever tried Morroblivion?
Stardew Valley. I was a big fan of Harvest Moon FOMT and kept hearing that I should play it and when I did was I blown away. It felt incredibly similar and 90% of the time I thought “It would be nice if this is a feature” it was
Scraper can grab video game maps and manuals automatically as part of it’s process if you want them for older games.
It’s more the need aspect you mentioned that I’m talking about. People living with what works or is good enough. I feel like it can be totally be intentional. I imagine a lot of people just sleep with a mattress on the floor because they don’t feel like a bed frame is necessary for example.
Where people draw the line is one of the things I’d find interesting if that makes sense
What would be something homey but not presentable?
I get you. I rarely have other people over. I feel like if I had to start over, like if my place burnt down, I would live more like that
Gotcha. I feel like they might have the recliner there to potentially have easy access to the counter and outlet that’s also nearby
Like the post says this isn’t my place it’s a really common meme and meme template. I’m looking for communities of people who live like this.
It’s kind of minimalist but without the stressed cleanliness and lack of all clutter
I feel like that’s 3/4 well furnished full spaces and the last quarter is people posting after getting divorced
It did help me find MaleSurvivingSpace which seems a bit more like what I was describing with people having more of just the essentials without clutter
It’s not an issue. Just a meme that’s common and demonstrates kind of what I’m after.
The person who owns that living room might just have gone after a really comfy chair over a couch which might be more typical for example. It feels kind of within the realm of minimalism and more focused on the utility of the space
Thanks but that’s still kind of on the fringe of what I’m looking for. I feel like that’s more about working within the confines of the van rather than living effectively.
Someone trying that might be stuck using a hotplate but they could still have a decent sized mattress and gaming setup for example if that makes sense. It seems more like living densely
I’m considering getting one for surfing the web on a secondary monitor. Nothing important is occurring but I asked this question for two reasons.
Plenty of people put some level of work into making their PC’s OS more secure using YouTube tutorials and tips but they may not think to update their BIOS for example
Do most motherboards receive long term support updates? I feel like I’ve only ever gotten a few updates for the ones I’ve used but maybe that was because I was buying older boards.
I feel like that’s a lot like the observer effect in physics where as soon as someone walks in you watching anime all the weird stuff happens. Like when a friend I was hanging out with decided to watch A Sister’s All You Need and we had to sit through the first scene of the first episode together.
I can’t imagine watching an anime movie with my parents.
Huh that’s actually one of my favorite movies to watch with my grandparents. It’s probably the hardest I’ve seen my grandpa laugh
It probably doesn’t help that it’s abandonware and was limited largely to the PC and Xbox 360.
A lot of people only hear about it in “top abandonware games” lists that would mention it and games like Alpha Protocol which was recently relisted.
I get you. I’ve been going through a lot of “best of” lists for various consoles and it’s tough going back and playing them because they were obviously made for a younger audience and and having never played them as a kid I don’t really feel the same pull.
The Kirby games are a big one. I’ve seen a lot of recommendations but can’t really get into them.
