  • Not this one. Israel created a shell company that sold these particular pagers only to Hezbollah (reportedly at a profit). Neither did Hezbollah buy these in random shops nor were they ever distributed to random shops. The network they used was also exclusively created by and for Hezbollah, not any civilians, so even if civilians had wanted to use these devices, they would not have been able to. Hezbollah bought them in bulk and distributed them to their members, believing they would be a safe way to communicate without tracking, since most pagers are one-way devices.

  • It is unclear whether the US government will take up the offer, however, with questions around the legality of such moves. Any effort by the Trump administration to deport incarcerated US nationals to another country would face significant legal pushback.

“The US is absolutely prohibited from deporting US citizens, whether they are incarcerated or not,” Leti Volpp, a law professor at UC Berkeley who specializes in immigration law and citizenship theory, told CNN over email.

Trump and his cronies are openly breaking the law every day and are getting away with it, yet people, including actual law professors, are continuing to naively believe that laws and the rule of law will be uphold. The Trump administration will either blatantly go against the law on this and/or have their bought and paid for Supreme Court make it legal.
