I think I may still be riding the hype of things like the JWST, and fusion energy breakthroughs. Our societies may be back sliding at the moment, but our species is still doing some amazing things.

I am going to click this, but God dammit if this is Rick Astley
Edit: okay, thanks internet friend
I recognize that I’m likely part of the problem, but was there a lot of, “well, actually the economy is good”?
What I remember from the campaign (from my own limited media stream) is that Harris openly acknowledged that prices were too high, both for groceries and housing, and gave admittedly broad plans to address those challenges, e.g. home buyer credits, home building targets, and child tax credits. I’m not trying to be an asshole, but I legit didn’t see this as the “abandonment of the working class” that has been the popular narrative recently.
I didn’t understand what imgur had become before I clicked the link and briefly thought the library had lots of copies of Twisters in 4k.
I don’t have any idea really, but one possible contributing element is the speed of delivery. My understanding (possibly incorrectly) is that western comics are more commonly delivered on a one book per month cycle, whereas Manga delivers a lot more content in the same time period. Part of this production time can probably be attributed to coloring time (Western comics color every panel vs Manga printed in mostly black and white).
There’s also the accessibility of Manga and anime, having relatively newer characters without the burden of decades of backstory (not accounting for One Piece). Running an anime with (mostly) similar story line helps to bring potential new readers up to speed quickly with Manga, whereas the animated adaptations of western comics often seem to pick specific story arcs of comics, or make up entirely new stories.
Fracking technology has some potential upside in the climate discussion, https://time.com/6302342/fervo-fracking-technology-geothermal-energy/
A ban on fracking might not be the best solution if you want to move the technology towards something more beneficial to the fight against climate change.
Did a quick scroll and didn’t see:
Smash - The Offspring
I’m not going to claim that it was ground breaking music or anything, but it just dropped at a time when it was able to hit maximum nostalgia for me.
Might as well throw in Ed Norton’s performance in Kingdom of Heaven.
I did not assert that the court gave full immunity for all things, but will now suggest that not every crime is a violation of the constitution, or could not be committed while carrying out a function of the constitution.
Why would immunity be necessary if the act is not otherwise a crime?
Reminds me of the “the medium is the message” phrase, and hope that the creators are going for something unique either to the story or the presentation, but the cynic in me thinks that they may just be doing this to set up a Doomsday Clock movie.
In the style of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, except we root for the vampires in this one?
Aw, I remember the hype on that movie before it came out, and media being like, “could this be the moment when video game movies start being good?” I can understand actors getting suckered into projects like this. I saw that it was free to watch on a streaming service a while ago. I still passed on watching it.
Cloud Atlas is the one with Tom Hanks, and I agree it wasn’t worth sticking through since i think it was like 3 hours long. I never saw Atlas Shrugged, but I’m guessing it’s also pretty heavy on the propaganda considering the source material.
Teen Titans go to the Movies made WB studio the vehicle for the villain’s world domination plan.
The Devil Lord made me do it.

I’ll take this into consideration the next time I look for a new position. I’ve never been on the side of performing or requesting a background check on a potential employee, but have almost always been asked why I left my previous employer when I’ve interviewed for a new position. Thanks internet friend.
Seems like it would also have the effect of making the employee less appealing to any potential future employers. When asked in an interview why they left their previous job, these people have to decide whether to say honestly that they were let go because of mismanagement and risk their possible new job on whether the background check includes a call to the HR department of your last employer, or give the line that would match the HR record and say they were fired for poor performance. Either way is going to make it pretty hard to get hired, and so if Cloudflare ever needs to hire again in the future, there’s a decent chance these people will still be seeking employment.
But because we live in a timeline where the butthole cut was never released, we can’t know how it would compare to what Cats was meant to be.
