Pretty sure I’ve seen the video
Looks like a phone snap, you want more control over the light as there appears to be two color temperatures fighting with each other.
If you’re able to get your camera locked off nicely you can build up the lighting by using multiple exposures and blending the frames in post. For example, one exposure with just the key light, then another for fill, then you can blend in selectively.
Styling wise I find it a bit perculiar - are these ready to eat? If not why are they plated up like that. It’s not quite making me want to reach in and grab some which I’d usually aim for in food photography.
Not real?!
Not familiar with that particular lens but the full frame version is very well regarded. Definitely a setp up from amy kit lens. I would still advise looking at second hand and bear in mind EF mount lenses will work very well with an adapter. You will get more bang for buck if you avoid RF lenses for a while.
Highest quality would be a few cheap EF mount primes (or a single RF-S prime), most versatile would be a wide zoom. You might even have enough budget for a wide zoom and longer prime if you buy second hand.
I’m sure it’ll be fine as long as there’s no pressure on the mount. I’ve used one of those heavy duty camera wraps while travelling (thrown in the main bag with all sorts of crap) and never had any issues.

I think they’re amazing. The chemistry of colored flame has fascinated me since I was young, and there’s nothing quite like being close to explosions. If I had more time and lived in the US I’d be a hobby pyrotechnician.
Pretty sure funding has been approved and it’s going to be back up and running again.
You weren’t tempted to try the reindeer piss method?
Depending on the salt you can make both blue and green. Copper sulphate flame test is a pretty common school lab practical isn’t it?
Amazing what the sun can reveal. When I was helping photograph an archaeological site with a drone we would wait till the sun was just right to reveal undulations and features that would be very hard to see from ground level, or in flat light.
I like it, but my eye is drawn to the center of the image, and it kinda looks like a pile of rubbish. I’d lose this subject (and clone yourself out) because it isn’t really recognisable and play with the crop to make those lines work a bit harder. At the moment they’re not really doing much. Square crop might work well if you don’t have a wider shot to give you more flexibility.
OK fair enough, in terms of advice I would suggest getting really familiar with whatever RAW software you’re using as you should be able to get an image like this perfect without needing to take it into photoshop.
I’d be happy to reprocess the RAW and walk you through the work flow if you’re interested.
Nice shot! There’s definitely some detail in the shadows that could be be pulled up a bit more without it looking artificial. Was this shot in RAW or JPG?
The way the buoys calm the wind in their wake to glass is really neat. Nice capture.
I love my inkjet. It’s so nice to be able to do my own high quality prints for the wall and for friends.
