  • I had two giant servers sitting under my desk when bitcoin started up. I was trying to decide whether to put them to work mining bitcoin or using them for seti at home. Well I decided to go with seti. And I am actually complacent with that decision, because had I got into bitcoin I know that I would have some sort of anxiety over when I sold, or what I paid for something like a pizza. I know those people who are searching trash dumps for their old hard drives are just in a weird hell that I am glad I never put myself in that situation.

  • I am not taking sides with this comment, but you could literally swap names of everything you just posted with (the opposite candidate) and there is someone saying this exact same thing somewhere on the internet. They are most likely sitting there posting about where all the Harris people went and how they moved to a saner platform to avoid toxic people… Everyone needs to remember that there is someone out there with a polar opposite viewpoint as you and it’s just as strong as yours. The internet and social media has made it much easier for everyone to wall themselves off into groups containing people with only their viewpoint. And now all of that has been fed to LLMs. This is going to be an interesting future we are walking into.

  • I don’t care if you play the game, or what you play it on. I have plenty of other systems that I could purchase this on. I have basically every Xbox console generation since the original, and a Nintendo Switch. So while I could be getting this or other rockstar games on multiple systems, I choose not to due to their actions. You play whatever you want on whatever you want.I would hope that as gamers we could muster up some solidarity against companies doing things like they did. Because sure it might be “insert os here” that they blocked this time, but it might be “your os” that they deem unworthy next time.

  • If you are shooting nature and want things consistent, sounds like it might be time to try out going to manual mode on the exposure, and even on the focus. I have access to an EOS R, but I find that manually focusing with a dslr is way easier than with the new digital viewfinders, but that could just be from a lack of experience with them on my part. Either way, give manual settings a try, especially if you are trying to capture the differences between the shadows and bright areas. I believe you can move the exposure lock to the back button. That might be what you are looking for. Get the exposure you want, hold the button to lock it in, then recompose and use the shutter button half press to let it focus. Then you can play around with where the focus point is in the frame to help ensure it’s focusing on what you want. Shooting moving cars required the opposite where focus was key and letting it meter the exposure right at the time the picture was taken was important. In your case, the focus isn’t going to be moving, you just need to nail down what it focuses on, and the exposure is what you are “chasing”. Which is why I would try out just going manual on the focus.
