Trump is creating a lot of enemies. Even turning allies into enemies. The reputation usually mostly recovers when there’s a Democrat in the WH, but since American voters walked right back into the same chaos again, eyes wide open, it’s going to be a lot harder to recover this time around. There’s just very little trust and credibility left.

There’s nothing that can be done. Republicans have every bit of power there is. At least for the next two years.

Anecdote: My Trumpster in-laws could not stop yacking about “Biden’s high eggs prices” just last month. Haven’t heard a peep about the price of eggs since Trump came back. Now it’s just “God’s will.”

Didn’t say he was. Just saying if he did such crazy things that even the crazies drop out, he could be removed. That’s extremely hard in the US. You’re basically stuck with the moron for four years.

And that’s the problem with the US election system. In basically any other developed democracy, there are ways to call a new special election. The four years are often the max between elections, not the minimum.

If a new leader proves unpopular, you toss them out and install a new one.

Assuming you can sell the Tesla, doesn’t that just mean that there are just as many people looking to buy a Tesla?

This is true. And right now, at least for the next two years, they have every bit of conceivable power there is. The President, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court. There are no checks and balances of Donald Trump.

Go as a student and find a spouse while you’re there for the easiest way to stay after you’re done with school.

The Covid vaccines were fast and good.

Short-term solutions are hard. In past work, I’ve proposed solutions to men’s compensatory anger and aggression at both the individual and societal levels. For example, I believe that it’s important for adults, such as parents, clinicians and teachers, to resist the urge to put undue pressures on boys, as well as to equip boys with the tools they need to resist such pressure. At a broader level, it’s important to promote gender diversity in positions of leadership and power, so that boys learn that people of all genders—not just men—share the responsibility for providing and protecting. If we can target the mechanisms underlying the pressure that boys and men experience, we should be able to mitigate the anger and aggression they exhibit to prove their manhood.

Well, a lot of the families of these young men are also deeply involved in the evangelical community that teach that these pressures are not only societal, they are God-given and healthy. They learn that if they don’t adopt this type of masculinity, they are going against the biblical version of the man. They might not even make it to heaven. They’ll be burning in eternal fire. And if your parents and your church and your day-to-day leaders keep pushing this, it’s no surprise that they end up voting for the toxic masculinity Trump represents.

Dude, the US based social media platforms are no better than TikTok. Its all rotten to the core. X is a great example of this.

Because whatever happens on the national level affects what happens on the state level.

They all affect each other even when the electoral count make them seemingly unimportant.

They do, because no state exists in a vacuum.

Isn’t this just a variation of the usual “if x candidate wins, I’m moving to Canada” rhetoric? All talk, no walk?

Wouldn’t this just create even more conservatives if they are the only ones having children? Seems counterintuitive.

Between shipping manufacturing jobs elsewhere, and allowing in immigrants who do menial work, people at the low end of the economy are pretty pinched for work.

Isn’t the unemployment rate close to record low? I mean, a lot of people work 2 and more full-time jobs to make ends meet, but that seems like a different issue.

We’re headed to Europe. Aiming for early next year.

I’m just going take my family and leave the country. I know that’s not an option for everyone, but it is for us, so we’re choosing that option.
