Lot of people confusing a redundancy with backups. My backup server is currently doing its part providing main services due to a bad RAM stick causing all sorts of chaos before I figured out it was the root cause.

I normally have all my dockers backed up and not running but ready to startvon the second server. Most of my data is from sailing the seas and so it can be restored by the ARR stack fairly well. I do backup a few key things like my PGP keys and keepass but the chances of all 5+ of the systems I’m actively using failing all at once is pretty minimal.

Isn’t simplex also funded by venture capitalists like Jack Dorsey? I don’t think I’d trust then not to sell out users when it comes time to pay back the investors.

Your money gets used for harmful stuff at some point no matter what you do, I’m just accepting reality. Capitalism is unethical at every level, some people draw a line at prison labor while others have no problem eating chocolate from child slaves or using a iPhone made by suicidal workers in a factory that pays them next to nothing.

Unless you live the life of a monk who grows all their own food you are most likely benefiting from some kind of human exploitation, more then likely the history of the device you use to read lemmy is filled with suffering workers being exploited at every step of the way, does that mean you should give up having electronics or a phone?

My not owning shares of a company doesnt make them any less bad, at least if in own shares I can vote on who is elected to the board and what direction they take things.

If enough like minded people with money wanted to do to corecivic what elon musk did to Twitter the way to do that is by owning enough stock to do a hostile takeover and force the company to shut down.

Since it uses yt-dlp which supports cookies, I would guess it does or it will soon. Not sure about how yt handles “purchased” content, but the cookies work for age restricted videos at least.

My uneducated guess is that most of the time spent on any optimization has to go to console ports. With PC you can just tell people to get a better PC, but with Sony and Microsoft they will straight up refuse to sell your game if it doesnt run well enough (see: CP2077 on ps4 or BG3 on Xbox).

Funkwhale is still actively maintained, the last release was less than a year ago.

you see a lot of scam websites use them because its easy to get away with fake reviews.

i too am skeptical of sites that use trust pilot, but i have used greenmangaming before, they dont sell stolen keys or do other shady things AFAIK. It’s a decent service.
