But you could also drop the “Chilean-” part and say you’re a Brazillian/American/French if you feel like it. Usually, people identify with where they have citizenship in.

I was born in People’s Republic of China, and I only use “Chinese-American” when I’m speaking from a racial/cultural experience, but if I’m running for office or something, I’d just be “American”.

Ethically, if there no ID or any identifiable infomation nearby, its very unlikely for the owner to be found, I think it’s fine to keep it. (If there is an ID, you should give it to the authorities.)

Keep it mind, cops could pocket it. So if you really want to find the owner, you should probably try to find them yourself, at the cost of your time and potentially getting falsely accused of being a thief.

I was born in Guangzhou, PRC. I immigrated to the US when I was a kid. I don’t see many of my (ethnically Chinese) relatives behaving “improperly” in the US. Most of my interactions in NYC Chinatown and Ohilly Chinatown was fine. Not sure what you mean by “improper” behavior. Any examples of such “improper” behavior?
