And sometimes bicycles are painted red.
And sometimes bicycles are painted red.
People use it like everyone fucking has the innate knowledge of every acronym out there
Or, you know, people use it like everyone fucking has the ability to use google.
Dear God, why?
Are you using different apps across the platforms to access Lemmy? There’s an upcoming change in Lemmy as a whole that will essentially get rid of the scores altogether, so a lot of apps are going ahead and removing that feature so they’ll be compliant when the change happens.
He’s extremely well known in the right to repair community. His “day job” is running a repair service for laptops and phones, mainly Apple devices, and he has always been at the forefront of trying to keep Apple in check as much as one person can be. To say he’s a decent guy is an understatement.
I just don’t know why they have to go with such weird colors for this and the zero. I’d take black, white, grey, or even an actual red or blue or really any other primary color over these pastel offerings. I have almost no use for one of these but if it was offered in a normal color, I’d order one right away.
I’ve always thought it was better to browse all and filter out things that don’t interest me rather than try and only subscribe to things that I already know I like. I end up finding communities and discussion that I never would have found otherwise, and honestly, I can’t fathom why that isn’t the default/most popular way of using aggregated sites like this.
It’s kinda like listening to the same 3 albums over and over again just because you already know you like that music vs just letting a station play and skipping the songs that aren’t working out for you.
Lemmy, as a whole keeps track of your upvotes and downvotes. There’s no algorithm, this is just a part of all of Lemmy.
Some apps choose to allow you to see it, and some apps don’t. There’s no boogie man that’s out there creating algorithms to try and “make karma a thing”.
It should be ridiculed and mocked, not celebrated.
Nah, we save that sort of thing for killjoys like you.
If you’re going to make crappy arguments, could you at least make different ones than the same ones I’ve already addressed from other people? There are people here who aren’t even 20 years old themselves. It’s absolutely absurd that you would suggest that someone can’t repost something just because it’s from another site. That’s literally where 99% of all of the content from sites like Lemmy and Reddit come from. You’re just bitching for the sake of having something to bitch about.
I think it’s time for me to take my own advice and use that block button to make things I don’t like go bye-bye.
Bye-bye!
This website is exactly what you make of it. I don’t care for shitposts, low effort memes, or just absurdist humor in general, so I make very liberal use of the block community button so I don’t have to see things that other people seem to enjoy, but I don’t.
You know what I try really hard not to do though?
Go around and bitch about things that other people do like when it’s really fuckin’ easy to just press one button and never see similar content ever again. Maybe you should try it if you find this type of humor isn’t up to your high standards.
To what end? It’s a silly little 5 second joke we’re meant to read and move on. If this had originally been a tweet would you have expected the OP here to have given you a dissertation about the history of twitter and why Elon Musk sucks so much for turning it into a nazi-haven? How would that have been relevant?
Jesus Christ, you people suck the fun out of things like it’s your damn job.
You’re right. One of the annoying habits I used to have on Reddit was trying to put assholes in their place. But as you’ve reminded me, the world will never run out of assholes. I need to take my own advice, downvote you and move on (and of course block your dumb ass so I never have to see your pointless negativity ever again). Good luck on getting that stick removed from your ass one of these days.
I’ve always hated the phrase “you must be fun at parties”, but I’ll be dammed if I can’t come up with a more apt reply to you than that in this moment.
As I said before, for your sake, I sincerely hope this is just some act you’re putting on for the sake of…boredom? E-clout? I dunno. I can’t rationalize why anyone would act how you are right now. We get it, you didn’t find this funny. But 250+ other people did. I’m gonna toss out another quote that I dislike but it really fits here too. If you don’t like it, just downvote and move on. There’s no reason for you to be a dick like this, but here we are.
Tap dancing Christ, I hope you’re not this dreadful in real life and just being an overly pedantic bore is something you reserve for the internet.
my second objection is that that copying bash entries is meaningless activity - everyone can just go to where they already are to see them.
Yeah, and I could browse every other website on my own to look for content I found relevant but the entire purpose of an aggregation site like Reddit or Lemmy is to…aggregate things.
and last - that post was not funny when it was new and time did not help it 🤷♂️
I found it amusing enough to toss it an upvote. Which is more than I could say for your needless dull reply.
That’s a good question. I think, kinda like politics in real life, the people that would make the best moderators are the ones that have very little desire to do it while often times the ones that do want it are the worst suited.
Someone once made me a moderator of a ~30,000 subscriber subreddit without me asking and I hated every second of it. All I ever tried to do make the place as good as possible and enforce the rules in place. I got praised for being a good mod, but just as often I got called a power tripping asshole by people who didn’t want to follow the rules. You really can’t win, and honestly I wouldn’t want to even try to moderate again. It takes up too much of your time, you get almost nothing from it and even when all you are doing is trying to do your best, you still end up being hated by some people. It’s just not worth the hassle.
OP, you should know that a lot is two words.
I used Memmy and just went through /c/all and hit block on anything I wasn’t interested in or was in a language I can’t read. I also used the search function to search for things that I know I’m not interested in “shitpost”, “anime”, “circlejerk” etc and blocked everything that came up in the results.
I didn’t know about Connect letting you block entire instances. I saw a post on how to do that manually, but I haven’t tried that yet. Might be good to block some foreign language content if an instance is gonna serve up nothing but stuff I can’t read.
That’s definitely not true. Just yesterday I was eating a salad (with chicken and bacon and cheese even) and I had an older coworker pass by and grumpily tell me he didn’t eat rabbit food.
