I like the movie, and I am agreeing with Ridley Scott. It was clearly a comedy. The book had humor in it, but it was science first. I saw it as a thought experiment on what it would take for someone to survive in Mars. The movie’s tone was more of adventure comedy, and there is nothing wrong with that.

It is a very big change because of the reason he only uses his own poop and not the poop of the other astronauts. They broke away from the hard science in order to insert a joke.
Yes but it never breaks the science in the name of comedy. Using the other astronauts’ poop to fertilize went against the book just so he could make an extra joke. The Ironman scene was also ridiculous and unnecessary.
The movie didn’t need to dumb down for a few extra gags.
The book is hard sci-fi and excellent.
The movie is dumb shit and screwy. The only way this change of tone and content is justified is by realizing that they switched genres and turned it into a movie.
Their definition of poor is likely not ours. We might see someone rich beyond words while they see themselves as ruined. A great example of this is the ending of Succession.
But no. They will never reach our definition of poor.
I just searched using Kagi. It fares poorly. Normally I get better results but “glb file format” seems to be a cursed search. Nothing but AI with the exception of one Wikipedia result and one Reddit post.

EDIT: Solid hits from the first try. It seems that search engines are being swarmed by generated garbage for open or vague questions. The moment you get specific, the AI slop seems to fall off…at least on Kagi.
I use Kagi specifically because Google and DDG were too infested with AI garbage. There is no escaping it. I get less generated slop, but I still get plenty.
Sometimes shit is just shot beyond repair.
I get what you are complaining about, but hear me out. John Wick (1) has the best plot premise of any action film ever made. It is a premise that transcends all barriers. Man loses the love of his life. Crew defiles his home, kill his wifes parting gift, which happens to be the most adorable puppy ever, and steal his pride and joy that also happens to be his last remaining healthy way to channel his anger and aggression. By the time he wakes up from the beat down, everyone in the movie theatre, regardless of gender, political beliefs, and to some extent religious beliefs, is on board with John murdering everyone. If they don’t agree, they at least understand and withhold their protests.
It is so perfect that it is likely the genesis of the explosion in popularity.
EDIT: I am expecting a rise in The Punisher style movies, thanks to the positive reception to the UHC CEO murder.

The type of landlord you are talking about is not the type most people complain about. In your case, this could be a fulltime and sometimes demanding job. Properties don’t take care of themselves, and people suck. Expect to be repairing and repainting constantly. The rent you receive, after insurance and property taxes, might turn out to be less than minimum wage towards to the work you put in, BUT you do get a paid for roof over your head.
