Well, it’s gender neutral, neither party can (legally) change their name after marriage. That seems weird to me. Let people do what they want.

Hmm but what do you do if your name is already hyphenated? You can’t just keep bolting names together so that’s not a solution for more than one generation.
I’m with you, I like sex scenes, sometimes because they represent a satisfying conclusion to a narrative arc but also because sometimes they are just pleasing to look at. Personally I don’t buy the argument that hard-core pornography makes them irrelevant. Have people stopped taking photos of shirtless guys and women in bikinis? No, of course not. The internet is still chock-full of photos and art of this content.
Sex scenes and action scenes dont necessarily “bloat” movies if they are fun to watch. That’s the whole point, right? To be entertained?
Yeah I remember getting in argument with someone who suggested violence/intimidation against everyone who committed the crime of…wait for it… driving a Cybertruck
Whoa that’s fucking dark. I’m a very strong Ukraine supporter but the dehumanization of Russian soldiers is disturbing.
For me, I blocked the political subs and it helped a lot. But idk what content is bothering you. Are you looking at local to lemmy.ca? Idk anything about that instance. Lemmy.world seems pretty chill, it has the reputation of being the most mainstream instance
Yeah I’m not defending that but CEO pay only rounds to like 1% of their total expenditures. Developing a browser is expensive.
That’s a weird take. Why do you think anyone becomes a terrorist? It’s usually not because they had a normal upbringing.
I also have zero idea what the movie poster is. It looks like Adam Driver is holding a Pizza Hut logo on a stick in front of the world’s most generic mess of golden polygons. I guess that’s some sort of construction tool?
Haha are you implying that Lemmy isn’t an echo chamber?
Thats wild I didn’t know that was a mainly Irish-American dish. My mother always makes it every St Patrick’s day I think it’s delicious. Don’t tell me that soda bread isn’t traditionally Irish either??
I think that is especially true in the United States where sharing cultures is so central to the nation’s identity. I think it really comes down to intent. As long as you aren’t doing something in a mocking or condescending way, I don’t think any reasonable person would be offended.
I know this is a little different due to the power dynamic (America being a powerful country) but people around the world love wearing random American stuff like baseball jerseys or whatever. Saw a lot of it in Europe. Probably theres no profound reason behind it, they just like the style. I think it’s cool, I’m not mad that they don’t really know who the Texas Rangers are or whatever.
I had the same experience: I played DS1 almost completely blind (I’d seen my old roommates playing it years ago so I knew some of the tricks, in a half-remembered sort of way). It was hard, and I got stuck in a few places for a really long time but wow it was extremely rewarding. Anyways I’m not that good at videogames, if you’re persistent pretty much anyone can beat dark souls 1 I think
Nah its just a leftist echo chamber. They have sympathy for the working class, but are very prejudiced against the wealthy. Personally, I would guess Charles is a decent human being, like most people. Im sure hes done some shitty things over the course of a long and extremely public life, but pretty much everyone has. I disagree with the concept of royalty but that doesn’t mean I want all monarchs to drop dead. Not a lot of nuance on Lemmy.
So, what makes you think he’s been taken in by fascist doctrine? Are we talking, “he thinks Dave Chapelle is funny and rolls his eyes at wokeness” or are we talking “defends hitler at the dinner table”? I ask just because I feel like some very liberal/leftist people can be pretty jumpy about things that are ultimately harmless. Additionally he might just be doing/saying things to act out and get a rise out of you. You’re not gonna fix that by making him read “white fragility” or something.
As far as gifts go I agree with many others in suggesting something that will make him interact with other worldviews in the real world. Maybe you can get him into a hobby that is shared by people across many different socioeconomic backgrounds like basketball or martial arts or travel or something.
