I’ve been disturbed to see an increasing number of purple parroting character assassination points about Zelenskiy.

He feels really safe saying these things while letting the wealthy elite in power do all the law-writing.

Speaking of degrading search results, people have begun phrasing questions like they would search queries so much that now when you search “how to X” it seems more likely to find a person posting a question worded “how to X” than it is to find actual answers.

What is meaningful, is what I want to know.

I’m pretty sure the flimsy plagiarism matter is just the lever used to oust her after her poor handling of the students calling for genocide. That looked real bad for the school in the congressional hearing. That or a way to oust her without appearing to pick a side in that whole mess.

So what else was in the bill that got it vetoed? They always hide some egregious nonsense in bills like this so if it gets vetoed they can point the finger and create outrage.

Yeah, I just realized what they intend and am thinking the same thing. It sounds like they intend a closed rail network between the ports to eliminate things like customs, but it’s still gonna take at least a day of processing on each end of that.

Might it also be possible that they’re trying this as a method of guerilla marketing? People get angry at the cancellation and spread the word, then they capitulate and uncancel it.

Yep, that’s the stuff! They tried to fish the new PEX line through by pulling it with the old stuff, but it broke apart in several places when trying to pull it out.

I recently had to have my 1980s house’s water main connection replaced because they used some experimental flexible hose material from the late 80s and it’s all starting to embrittle and fail now. Wouldn’t have happened with PEX…

I’ve been reading about PEX now and it sounds like it only became commercially viable to produce in large volumes in the 1990s, even thought it’s existed as a form of polyethylene since the 1930s. It’s just now becoming cheap enough to be used everywhere because it’s obviously better and we have lots of material performance data on it.

I thought PEX was just an industry term for HDPE pipes, but no, you’re right. The X stands for crosslinked and irradiation is one of (the more expensive) ways of achieving it. It sounds like most common PEX is made by adding peroxides to the HDPE or LDPE before extrusion and the chemical causes the thermoplastic to become a thermoset after the heat and pressure of the extruder. Neat stuff.

Timers can easily be made in a web UI, so that’s no reason for an app over a website.
