This reminds me, I need to get back to having the occassional weekday off to help stock the local foodbank.

Funny, how you called them “Democratic”, not Leftist or ever Progressive. You certainly chose the right word.
The red state where I live is just California-adjacent, with less id-pol distractions from all the anti-youth, anti-protest, anti-immigrant, anti-minority fuckery that is all-to-alive and well there. I’ll remind you, also, that the legal overreach within 100 miles of the border means no-one, of any persuasion, is any safer from the government in California, Maine, New York, what-have-you, than my neighbors and I are in what is otherwise an irredeemable hell-scape portion of the country, or so I am told.
Edit: It occurs to me that not everyone knows about the 4th-Amendment-Free zone within 100 miles of the USA’s borders, including all coastlines, and encompassing several entire states.
Let’s see … neither version of the cartoon in the article, and the editor “refutes” the accusation, when its more of a half-assed denial. Nothing to see here.
Pretty sure I understand less about the slang now that I’ve seen it in this format, but I still prefer it to other encounters I’ve had.
Came here to say, I find this more palettable than most such refferernces in the wild.
Even starting from that point, its exceptionally non-sensical.
I have no idea what I just read re:“opium war activism” … search engine seems to see no difference between “activist” and “participant”, with no distinctions like “perpetrator”/“aggressor” or “victim”.
… and? Yeah, welcome to the thread. At what point do I say otherwise?
Starving the regime is not an excuse to starve the country. The regime doing anything that brings in more money than it spends is a better use of its time than other things it tries to do, and will continue attempting regardless of cash-flow.
Call me when you’re ready to impiment a no-fly zone and mass air-dropping/smuggling of Starlink, Cell Phones, Cell Towers(stand-alone, like the Stinger, only in reverse), weapons, and most importantly, food.
Are you ready to do something about the problem of starving North Koreans, or do we just continue blaming it entirely on their government?
… yeah, that will show them. Meanwhile, do you even begin to understand how food is distributed within North Korea?
India and Pakistan, circa 1998 … You’re telling us the world ended because we didn’t starve them all out.
Rather spies, soldiers, whatever, work remotely for western companies than whatever other bull their government wants them doing.
Repeating the same tired gibberish with no elabbration, much?
… and yet, North Koreans did this work, and I addressed the money issue from the regime-level down.
Stealing Identities to get work does not imply the ruined the credit of those people. Getting worked up over this is NOT all that far off from getting worked up over immigrant laborers stealing identities so they can work and feed their families, or recieve food stamps or medical care. At least those last two kinda-sorta have victims, and yet I still prefer immigrants be able to eat.
Sorry, you’re not going to be able to get me to buy into the fear-mongering hysteria-machine by apeing thier narratives. I’m not saying your arguments are invalid, just addressing them from the same surface-level reading you gave mine.
Oh no! People making money by … checks notes … working for it!!
No, I don’t care that they are doing it for a communist regime bent on developing nuclear weapons. The only consistent result of depriving rogue states of money and trade is the starvation of their people. Its a little hard to overthrow or reform a government on an empty stomach.
I was talking maturity-level, experience, education, etc. …and character, in particular.
Boys*
On-line surveys have always had this problem with bots and people with agendas. Its sad and comical they are pretending this is something new.
That 800k number is the saddest I’ve felt since the morning of the 5th. Wtf?
wtf did I just read? Even dark ages fiefdoms had exile…
I think the rich are more prone to buying new items. Eventually the prices of used items will rise as a result of demand, but not right away. No one needs a new game console, and few could not meet their needs with a used PC or laptop.
Most in the US already have all of the above, but sure, this disproportionally “hurts” the poor.
I’m thinking one would be best off writing a virtual machine hypervisor to run Python code, like facebook did to run their PHP as close to the bare metal as they could get it.
It would still be a beast of a project to start on with the VM already built, of course.
