The sad thing is, his case is not unique. Way too many people are convicted for crimes in the same way where some “cell mate” has heard the other person confess to crimes, and then the “informant” gets rewarded.
We seriously need to change how things are done especially in cases where the only evidence is from incentivized informant testimony.
If the Missouri governor won’t pardon him, shouldn’t Biden be able to pardon him? Hopefully enough noise is made that he takes notice.
Unfortunately we’ve all seen this play out before where someone who can prove they are innocent is still executed.
I’ve got to say, I’m disappointed in Lemmy for the amount of upvotes you’re receiving for a comment as sickening as this.
Killing someone just for revenge should never be the answer. That’s the kind of tactic that makes dictators and fascists what they are. The desire to watch something like that is even more alarming.
Always great to have an actual lawyer weigh in on something like this.
Hold up… there is a staircase going upstairs behind the couch!
Yeah, that shark was definitely trying to eat that turtle…
Anyway, the top comment from YouTube is useful:
They put two different clips together. The original is that the turtle was saved from being eaten by the tiger shark, and then after they released the turtle miles away from the shark, the turtle swam down, grabbed a jellyfish or something to eat, and brought it back up to try and “share” his snack with his rescuer. It was adorable. And they showed the entire thing from start to finish in that one, showing it was the same turtle, and the same man right after the rescue.
You saw what happened to some of the witnesses that were on our side, they were literally crucified by this man who looks like an angel but he’s really a devil.
“Literally”… You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
It was bad enough when Hertz was reporting tons of active rental cars as stolen and getting over 100 people arrested: https://www.inc.com/minda-zetlin/hertz-lawsuit-arrests-number-unsealed.html
Now we have to worry about Dealership loaners as well?!
Dispatchers should take note and start asking callers if the car is a rental/loaner… or in the case of Hertz, just ignoring their automated software reports entirely.
Brave browser works well on an android phone and blocks ads without any issues (including YouTube).
The only extra steps you’ll need: Toggle off “sponsored images” on the New Tab settings. Toggle off the “Brave rewards icon” under “Appearance” settings.
Since a lot of discussion is happening around how they’re going to implement this, and the article doesn’t go into the details, here’s more information: https://sd11.senate.ca.gov/news/20240124-senator-wiener-introduces-groundbreaking-bills-slash-california-road-deaths-epidemic
In line with NTSB recommendations, SB 961 requires every passenger vehicle, truck, and bus manufactured or sold in the state to be equipped with speed governors that limits the vehicle’s speed based on the speed limit for the roadway segment. The maximum speed threshold over the speed limit for that segment that the speed governor may permit the vehicle to travel at is 10 miles per hour over the speed limit. SB 961 also permits the vehicle operator to temporarily override the speed governor function. SB 961’s speed governor requirement does not apply to emergency vehicles.
And if anyone really wants to dive into it, the actual text for the bill is here: https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202320240SB961
It sounds like the tech support agent was trying to get him to do just that on his phone… But I haven’t used Waymo before, so I’m not certain about that.
