Fuckkkk!!! Not my vitamin gummies!
I don’t like your take. It’s not cynical or pessimistic enough
His argument or yours? I want to focus on yours since I’m talking to you :) - I mean, I don’t see him claiming anything about headlines which is what you and I are talking about now
So, to reiterate the argument you’re making here, you’re saying that you believe that when he said he will reduce grocery prices, what he actually meant was that he would reduce energy costs which would then reduce the cost of groceries. The headline suggests he is backtracking but you believe he always intended to use energy prices as the main driver to reduce groceries and that’s why the headline is false. Is that right?
You agree with the president-elect’s assessment that reducing energy costs will result in corporations slashing prices for consumers? Do you just believe him or do you have reason to believe his assessment is accurate
My top issue has been get money out of politics since I was 18 (like ~15 years ago). It blows my mind it never even cracks the top 20 for most Americans
We’re simply too dumb at the moment. We need to somehow educate the population… very quickly. But we should expect anything we say to be labeled PC, CRT, woke, etc. We should pick something and stick with it and defend it - not shy away and cower as we have been doing
Oh… I see. I’ll keep reading
I don’t know too much, but I recall learning that the Ottoman Empire was supposedly kinda accepting of different religions and whatnot and kept the peace for a long time
Was there anything good there that we could’ve learned from? I’m guessing there’s some bad/immoral/unhelpful stuff they did but I also can easily imagine European countries just wanted their shit and thought they deserved it for whatever reason
Edit: reading rn. Ok they definitely did some fucked up shit to their enemies…
Idk, I’m bilingual and I only ever think in English. It doesn’t really seem to make a difference though, saying things out loud vs in my head.
I’m learning a third language now and can just barely communicate with others (worked with a taxi driver!). That said, I wouldn’t consider myself truly trilingual yet. I could think in that language but it doesn’t really feel like it changes anything - I still only know the same words in my head
Ah, carry on. I assumed you were more interested in advancing progressive policies and convincing others to do the same as opposed to just yelling at the clouds, which I imagine must be quite cathartic :)
The thing is, since the primaries are over, the best time to have this discussion has passed, and with there only being two parties in the US and both having already nominated a candidate your comment seems out of place, at best, and at worst, intentionally divisive and counterproductive towards advancing legislation progressives support
I mean, at least in this community, I’d assume most people that care about “progressive politics” already know Harris isn’t left of Bernie or anything so it’s not really that interesting or enlightening. I think at this point, most of us just care that she’s significantly left of Trump and most importantly believes in basic things like the rule of law and science
I know but what’s your goal here?
lol. You know the primaries are over, right?
I see. I guess I was confused. Thanks for clarifying you read the article, at least. I thought you were just making a low effort comment hating on a random title you disliked from an article you didn’t even care to read
I personally thought it was a decent article and provided worthwhile context, however can we totally disagree on that
That said, I still see your first statement as a bit silly, kinda like saying a corporation should be ashamed of its behavior, and not it’s board of directors, or even shareholders or something (they’re at least capable of feeling shame)
The government should be ashamed? How would that look or work in your mind?
The government is just a theoretical framework we invented to organize society. It can’t feel shame or really anything since it isn’t sentient
Also, I know you were just hating but your question’s answered in like the first two paragraphs. It’s a super easy read and pretty well contextualized - in case anyone else is curious, I mean
Fuck yeah! W
Also, anyone else notice how often the DNC uses identity politics to oust progressive politicians (not sure if I’m using that term correctly. I’m saying they often run black against black, women against women, etc.)?
Hey OP, Can you help me understand why you’re posting like a thousand links an hour?
Glad it wasn’t too bad for you/y’all.
Unfortunately, I wiped my computer Thursday night before our company mentioned anything. lol. I ended up finding out about the issue on Lemmy/Reddit. My company didn’t send anything out until this morning - which I still find insane, my laptop crashed and started looping around 7p (took them like 12 hours).
My laptop just rebooted while I was working so I assumed some program I’d installed caused it (explorerpatcher). I tried everything, safe mode, system restore, uninstall updates. I figured the only option left was to reinstall windows. Done it plenty of times on my personal PC
Oh well, lesson learned. Shit’s totally fucked now. It won’t even connect to the Internet. lol. Definitely a Monday problem though
Good thing back in the day there were probably very few cult leaders…
Does anyone wonder about how the story of Jesus being plagiarized from the Egyptian myth of Horus affects the narrative about the Jesus that supposedly lived and died a century earlier? You know the one that happened to have incredibly important political value for the established leaders of the time?
No? Me either. Praise Horus!
Fair enough. Stay angry, buddy. Happy learning
What did Carter do?
