This is minor, but take a video game for example - even with nothing to gain, lots of systems have to be put in place because people go out of their way to game the systems and cheat.

There’s no real time enforcement for it to mean anything. The votes are tallied in real time, and a winner is announced, then months to years later people (who are caught) are prosecuted?

It’s a bit illogical to say you hate insurrectionists and people trying to alter society for their own benefit, and also say “id rather have Hitler as a president”.

If energy becomes cheap, they lose money. If the stock market doesn’t see their profits rise every quarter, they will trade for less.

These major corps think of societal impact only in the monetary/cash flow sense and lobby heavily to support their position.
