I got sterilized because I have a painful, degenerative, genetic condition (with no cure), that I feel is too cruel to pass on. I won’t risk letting a child be born with this syndrome, so I made the choice so I never have to deal with getting pregnant. If I ever want a kid, I’ll adopt. (Doubtful. I can barely take care of myself like this)
Every day hurts, there’s LOTS of days I wish I was aborted but I look at my rescue dog (who had been my service dog for 9 years now) and everything is OK. He was thrown away twice before I came along and his first owner kicked his teeth in. If I wasn’t here, who knows what could have happened to him.

I do the research and script writing for a documentary company. In 2023, I noticed that the pages of serial killers I’d been researching, started mentioning political affiliation in the top paragraph… but they all said Democrat (or socialst, communist sympathizer, anti-fascist, etc). Then, one of the murderers I was researching, who was literally a Republican politician who killed his wife , said Democrat and I had a team investigate. It got corrected, but we have no idea if it was one person or a group that changed the pages. Someone out there wants murderers to be associated with democrats.

You’re ABSOLUTELY correct about screen time; but it is worth noting that the amount of prescriptions for night driving glasses are higher than they’ve been in history. I travel often and, even in my SUV, I can’t stand that large/superduty truck lights don’t point downward enough… It’s downright blinding at times. I can’t imagine what someone in a sedan is seeing. It’s not just passing them at night, you get hit through rear view mirrors if they’re behind you and at red lights, too, which can add up to multiple hours a week depending on your commute/schedule. The laws in the 90s were based on fluorescent brightness, and should probably be updated, that’s all. It’s not truck owners fault that the lights are designed like that.
I truly believe that in first world countries, it’s because of insanely bright headlights. I remember reading that they’re 3,000x brighter than they were in the 1990s and because trucks are getting taller, they point more at other drivers than they ever have. My library even rents out night driving glasses so people can see if they’re beneficial.
I’m a girl who likes comics. Do it. If you can find a nerdy shop with snacks, even better. Ask her about her favorite characters and have her pick out one for you to read, if you don’t know it. That would be an awesome green flag for me. Be careful not to get too serious/gate-keepy, though. An open mind is the best way to approach this.

If you can make a good wage for several years before you apply, SSDI will go up and won’t be such a low average. Unfortunately, I was disabled after only a few years in the workforce and the most I made, even with a degree, was $15/hr. I wasn’t making enough for long enough to get more than the $914 (the SSI limit). That’s the best advice I can give. If you get SSDI, you’re also allowed to get married without losing benefits. Those on SSI, if married, the income the spouse makes is considered your income and is taken out of your SSI.
And yet disability is at a whopping $914/month federally and you can’t have more than $2k in your bank or they take away your food stamps and healthcare… a number that hasn’t changed since 1974 and would be $13k if adjusted for inflation. I didn’t choose to be disabled. I paid my taxes when I could work, to prevent suffering; but I’m now living with a family member and selling nudes to afford the rent, bills, vehicle costs, insurance costs, prescriptions that aren’t covered, service dog expenses, etc.
So basically they found an abandoned newborn baby in an airport trashcan, and decided they needed to check the vaginal areas of all the women, to see which woman had recently given birth?!? Have they never heard of stretch marks? What the actual fuck.

Oh cool, so you voted for and support better healthcare? Better pay for teachers? Allotting more tax money to support schools? An increase in WIC? Maternity leave? Paternity leave? Foster system funding? School lunch programs? Childcare/daycare programs? More funding for women’s health centers that provide STI testing and contraception? An increase to Medicaid’s asset limit of $2k that hasn’t changed since 1974? Mental health programs? An increase in SSI for disabled children/parents because no one can survive off $10.9k/year anymore?

Something I’m seeing a lot is the statement “I’m not distancing myself because of political differences, I’m distancing myself because of moral differences”
Anyone who is happy at the expense of others losing rights, is not different from you politically, they’re different from humanity, as far as basic ethics.
You’re not selfish. You’re strong. Stronger than me and I’m proud of you for trying to fight to help your dad, but please don’t do it at your own expensive. I’m pan and non-monagamous but buried further in the closet than a cable that “definitely will be useful in the future” because my family would turn on me in a heartbeat.
