Two obvious truths on Lemmy: almost everyone here is anti-capitalist/borderline communist, and almost everyone has a huge boner for Linux.

The government makes a lot of things worse when they get involved. I trust them as much as I trust corporations.
Also stop the hyperbole. I’m not one of your fellow communist. Though I’m on Lemmy so I don’t blame you if you assumed as much. America is one of the most well off countries, and the standard of living is far better than most countries. Not all, but most. It’s far from a “shit hole”.
I’m usually not in favor of government intervention/overreach, but it’s not like corporations are going to do anything in our favor, and many people need specific medication to, you know, be alive. So +1 for the federal government.
Is “worker owned” a fancy way of stating they are small business owners?
I apologize if I struck a nerve. That wasn’t my intent.
I don’t know if this is some weird, standard response you give when you’re not sure how to respond to people, but nah, I’m good on the hug front.
I’ll attempt to help you out: when people don’t care about things you care about, it doesn’t mean they’re having a bad day. It simply means they don’t care about the things you care about.
No one cares.
This one, and the Patrick Stewart version my family and I watch every Christmas.
Do not question. Only consume.
“Make your laws more convenient for me or I’m going to break them”.
A lot of people enter the country and become legal citizens every day.
Alright man enough with the “baby hands” stuff. It was slightly humerus the first time I read it but after seeing you post it for the third time it just makes you look sad now. We get it. You don’t like him. You look like a conservative who repeats “sleepy Joe” unironically.
Edit: holy shit you made the same comment 10 times. Nah, I’m good.
Haha just had to get one insult in, didn’t you? The sign of a petty personality. Just couldn’t agree to disagree, could you? Nope. Just haaaaaad to drop an insult. Feels like reddit all over again.
A lot of maybes and speculation. Sure, education is never a bad thing, but you’re trying to use this horrible situation to push your beliefs. This woman hurt her own child to spite the child’s father.
I made no mention of the jail sentence. You made a claim that was false. I responded to it with facts from the article. You responded with some “maybes” and speculation.
I think it’s pretty messed up to use this situation to push your opinion how having access to abortion (being “forced” to bear this child) might have prevented this. There’s a time and a place for such an argument.
Do you have evidence this woman was forced to bear this child? I didn’t read that in the article. And since you provided your opinion of why the mother did this to the child, I know for a fact you didn’t read the article.
“strip away the humanity”
I’m dead. That’s got to be the greatest use of hyperbole I’ve seen in a long time. Bravo, sir. Bravo.
I joined Reddit in 2014. It was great back then. Open discussion (for the most part) was common place. You could disagree, but not everyone was a “fascist” or “liberal commie”. Now insults, extremism, and radical attitudes are common place. No middle ground. “agree with all my viewpoints or you’re the enemy”. Lemmy doesn’t look much different.
I’ve only been on this platform for maybe a week, and I’ve already blocked a dozen instances/communities. Not interested in extremism.
You can’t seriously be surprised by this. When you work for a company, especially one that interacts with customers, you’re almost guaranteed to have to follow uniform requirements. This isn’t new.
I fear for the public education system when someone like you has to ask this question.
That’s a pretty broad statement. There’s about 8 billion people on the planet. I’m sure many still support it.
