It’d probably be like eating a raw egg with most of the shell removed.

It’s awful that they still haven’t made any effort to port it. It’s a really good remaster and it deserves to not languish on a console no one bought.

That being said, I feel like the Wii U will still be the best incarnation of that game, having the game on one screen and your inventory/menus open on the other at all time really added a lot. Not having to pause to swap gear, having the full map open to look at when sailing, having the Wind Waker songs open while playing when you inevitably forget one…it was nice.

Not to mention both stories being explicitly rooted in Polynesia means they’re working from a shared common mythos. Maui is a real-world mythological figure who wields a hook, Moana didn’t just make that up. Turtles are also culturally significant, as are boats/seafaring journeys, tattoos, ancestral spirits represented as animals, and so on.

I hate to defend a corporation as evil as Disney but the most they’re guilty of in this circumstance is making a non-Eurocentric movie for a change.

Any time a news headline ends in a question, the answer is always no.

I’m not going to say the game will look good, knowing how Legends Arceus turned out, but maybe wait for them to release a single screenshot of the game before making assumptions about what it will look like?

Like others have said, budgetary restrictions and limited imagination is the honest answer, but there are a couple somewhat interesting “handwavey” explanations a sci-fi universe can use. Off the top of my head:

1. Directed Panspermia: Life on Earth (and other planets) was seeded by an intelligent higher order. Evolution occurred mostly naturally, but all following the same starting blueprints with variations to account for environmental differences. Eventually this leads to intelligent, humanoid life. Basically, sci-fi intelligent design theory.

2. Convergent Evolution: Two unrelated organisms can evolve similar traits because they happen to be best suited to certain tasks. For example, the number of times crabs have evolved independently, because crab-like traits work universally well for their shared niche. So in theory, if humans are distinctly advantaged for our evolutionary niche, it stands to reason that other forms of intelligent life might resemble humanoids as well.

Though I’d almost say a heist film falls into its own genre separate from action. There’s often some big shootout action scene and a lot of cool car chases with cool cars, but they tend to follow a separate formula from standard action movie fare. Struggling to think of a movie that can classify as both but my film knowledge is not great.

Not to mention this is a case where a shit ton of money is being spent on all of this film production, and a distraction like someone’s phone audibly going off could ruin a lengthy shot with an otherwise amazing performance. Goes beyond the usual concern of the phone being a distraction that hindera productivity.

Meanwhile the people doing the arresting have a union of their own.

What a farce.

I credit the poem. It was a good trailer.

Guessing the kid acting like a carrier at the end of the second movie allowed the virus to continue, and it is probably being intentionally spread by some sort of cult in this one.

It’s like action-horror Firewatch. Love it.

It’s not a “kick in the teeth for the establishment”. It is very much in line with the status-quo of American politics.

Trump is as establishment as any other American politician. The only difference is whose billionaire fan club is bigger. His agenda is one of deregulation which is going to make a lot of corporations and investment firms very happy.

Zelenskyy will say whatever he needs to in order to try to retain as much US support as possible.

Not likely to work, but it’s a pragmatic take. If someone is threatening to cut off your support, don’t threaten them back, otherwise it’s a done deal.

Can be a bit of both. Everything is prompted by a desire to return to the “before” times. For Trump’s supporters, that is a hypothetical, undefined time when America was “great”. For the Brexiters in the UK, that was the pre-EU period when Britain was a global empire. For the conservatives in Russia, it is the yearning for the USSR days.

The western world as a whole should be terrified. There has been a sharp dip towards conservatism that will only accelerate with Trump back at the helm in the US. Brexit didn’t occur in a vacuum.

Ah yes, because nothing says “change” like “unchecked conservatism”
