The struggle is for nothing? If you went to a school with grade deflation to ‘maintain the integrity of education’? Get fucked, party schools will pass kids or allow kids to grade grub to a higher GPA.
Academia is such a fucking game.

I think people forget these talk radio shows are still a thing. A lot of us, especially Millenials and younger, are streaming our own music/audiobooks/podcasts in the car. But there are a lot of people who listen to talk radio.
My great grandmother recently passed at the age of 100. Summers in her garden were something truly special. They had a small backyard, but the victory garden covered most of it. If I ever reach grandma status, I hope I will have an impeccable garden and carry on the tradition. Thanks for the story, it brought back so many memories. I would kill for a fresh tomato sandwich now.
I find it interesting how many pieces of media have been inspired by the book Killer Angels. Firefly joins Gettysburg (perhaps that one is obvious), and even Ken Burns sprawling Civil War Documentary.
I am joining the dark side on this one. It’s justified when they are slowing down everyones commute.
People on their phones while driving. Aside from the danger it poses, I have been stuck at a light behind someone who is obviously scrolling on their phone and then doesn’t realize the light has turned green. Sometime this lasts for 10-20 seconds, which is a lifetime when trying to efficiently move through a series of stop lights. I’m not an aggressive horn honker, and I feel like an asshole if I have to use it. But if you are fucking with the flow of traffic you deserve it.
Autocorrect has gotten significantly worse for me recently. I used to be pretty well adjusted to my phone and know which words I did not need to capitalize/spell correctly because autocorrect would do it for me. Now, it feels like it is all over the place. It also does not seem to acknowledge commonly used proper nouns anymore. I type my brother’s name all the time, yet it will autocorrect to the same name witn different spelling.
Oh there are absolutely women who have turned their backs on the conservative party for those reasons and remain pro life. Personally, I see the issues as interconnected. It feels like we see a headline at least once a month where a conservative politician had an extra marital affair and was perfectly fine insisting their girlfriend get an abortion so that they can maintain their squeaky clean image. Or if their daughter had premarital sex and her successful college career was in jeopardy they would see things differently. Rules for thee and not for me. The shift is obviously more nuanced than a single issue, but reproductive rights radiates through a lot of different issues because it has to do with specifically men and their belief that their opinion matters more than others.
When pregnancy and child birth are such a monumental part of a persons life, and the ability to choose whether or not to go through that process is taken away, it makes a lot of sense why this is the ‘sole reason’ for some women. As someone who very recently gave birth, everything else in the world and other political topics are dwarfed by the absolute earth-shattering life event that is bringing a child into this world. I think it is something that people who haven’t been through it themselves, or who are not empethetic can not wrap their heads around. But there is absolutely a reason why many women are voting liberal for abortion rights alone. That is the single freedom that contributes most directly to a womens adult life. While tax policies and national affairs have an impact on everyones day to day lives, reproductive rights have an acute impact on womens immediate futures.
We do not want that. We do not want a protector. We want our rights to be upheld and not jeopardized by making them a State’s Rights Issue where they can be dismissed or “protected” by stupid little men like him.
Was going to say with all of the episode of Dr. Who, it had to be in one of them.
I’ve never heard of it before, but it looks awesome!
Well, this guy is just fantastic. Everything you want in a museum curator. Just watched some other videos with him playing ancient board games, and he is such a delight.
They could have crafted a serviceable plot out of what the games provided…if they cared. It would never be The Last of Us, but the bar is set so low for things now. I would be perfectly fine with well written movies with B list actors. But that’s the problem with these movies, no one cares enough, and all the money gets poured into getting recognizable actors to play parts that they aren’t suited for.
That boot scene was pretty horrific. Although I laughed when I they showed Lucy’s horrified reaction because she and I had the exact same face.
I suggest donating your time or skills to helping others in some way. It doesn’t have to be a great endeavor, especially because I am sure nursing and taking care of people is emotionally draining.
I started assistant coaching a local kids’ sports team that had very little funding. Turns out that it was incredibly rewarding to work with kids and watch them grow. I also found friends in other coaches who had similar interests to me. We could always commiserate over complaining about waking up early for practice or certain kids that were difficult, and friendships grew from there.
Maybe kids aren’t your cup of tea. But I have always gotten a seratonin boost from helping other people. That might be an easy place start. Aside from that, maybe a hobby that requires you to interact with others. The first thing that pops into my head is glass blowing, because there is a shop in my town. You can take a class with other people, if you hate it then it wasn’t too expensive of a trial because they have all the equipment. If you like it then you can participate more with the shop. Something along those lines?
