  • They stopped being fun 10-15 years ago. Back then people started figuring out the new touch input for games which lead to many simple, but creative games.

Nowadays, it feels like there exists nothing noteworthy in this space. Most are just boring clones of clones of clones riddled with ads and other garbage. I was unable to find even one game worth installing on my phone the past few years.

I don’t know what I am looking for at this point. I love casual games and play a lot on PC or my Steam Deck and it is so much easier to find something there which isn’t just a cheap money grab.

  • It kinda is though. Iirc it received an interrupt it shouldn’t have received and doesn’t know how to resolve. It is not supposed to ignore it, but then the only other option is crashing at this point. Basically it continues in a dazed and confused state.

Of course the message could be clearer, but at least it also makes the message easily searchable.

  • None of the tools are really made for the most trivial use cases though. Although it doesn’t take much effort to set everything up in a simple project I would probably also skip most of it. But this discussion about tiny one off projects is kinda pointless as you don’t have many of the problems to solve anyway.

I implemented a reddit frontend (kiosk mode) a while back using only vanilla JS for fun, because a previous implementation by someone else broke. There was not really a point though as it wasn’t even simpler than using the proper tools. It was just for the hell of it, but nowhere close to a “real” project.

  • The effects on blood pressure are well known, but that it can cause spasm of arteries is interesting.

Many people eat lots of spicy food daily and I never heard of serious health issues. Especially a single chip might contain a concentrated amount of capsaicin, but it is unlikely to contain much more in volume then a hot plate of chili con carne or even just a hand full of raw jalapenos. So I assume it is some underlying condition and a shock reaction and not the capsaicin itself.

I would love to see more research into this.

  • This is just clickbait.

I watched the video and he is missing the point by trying to be in the center of the debate. There is either discrimination or acceptance and not much of a middle ground.

Points 1-5 are obvious and nobody should be confused about any of that. Of course he is right here and water is wet.

6 is actually a real problem, but it cannot be solved. Either you discolose it yourself which either leads to outing or staying in the closet or people assume for you which also leaves you in the closet. In my groups we stopped asking about pronouns to not put anyone on the spot, but there is no satisfying solution to this problem.

Of course you can demand others to refer to you in a way, the same way you provide a name. It is very much a social expectation and here the video is missing the point. Either you respect the other person or discriminate them, there exists no middle ground. It is the same as refusing to use their name. There is also no distinction if you disrespect them to their face or behind their back (talking to others about them).
