  • Why I wrote it now: It started with the idea of bringing up things in your daily conversations you have that help make the world better which takes very little of your time but can spur good ideas and help advance good causes. Then I as I was thinking about what are some things one can say one of the things I realized is it’s important to ask everyone you know (who will care) about voting because Republicans are continuing to attack voting rights so we need to defend against that now by perhaps preparing documentation to pass whatever new legislation gets enacted. It’s a preemptive measure. Also I didn’t have an account here before the election. Of course if I had a time machine I would do everything I could to spread this message but I must focus on the future.

Also this for sure won’t be the last time I mention this. As local elections get closer I will try to bring this up again. I hope you’ll join me in reminding as many people as possible everywhere that it’s important to vote and to be prepared to vote ahead of time.

  • This is a fantastic article! Today we saw how powerful #8 is when Mariann Edgar Budde asked Trump to be a decent human being.

    1. Stand out. Someone has to. It is easy to follow along. It can feel strange to do or say something different. But without that unease, there is no freedom. Remember Rosa Parks. The moment you set an example, the spell of the status quo is broken, and others will follow.

  • Twitter/X is horrible. I feel of all the large/mainstream (used to be mainstream) social media platforms it’s the worst. We don’t need to trust them to police themselves, reporting is now win-win because if they don’t take down the reprehensible content you can use the evidence you collected to persuade your friends to leave Twitter/X. If you are lucky and it’s the 1% of the time when they actually remove it that’s good too because you just got some hate taken down.

This is especially powerful for people in the EU, I don’t know how to do it but if their DSA reports don’t get acknowledged perhaps it would be possible to send the screenshots to someone in the EU or their countries government and they could fine Twitter/X for violating the DSA.

  • The most important thing is to take care of your own health. I’d recommend pivoting sending encouraging messages to progressives. For example if there’s a content creator you like write a message saying you’re grateful for everything he/she does. You’ll feel good and whoever receives your message will feel good too.

Also campaign for issues you care about instead of being against issues you’re opposed to. This should result in less anxiety and stress. If that doesn’t work you got to focus on the anxiety and stress first before you focus on activism. The reason why is because once you solve the anxiety and stress you will be more powerful. I’ve read articles on resisting Trump and most say you must first focus on your personal health. https://wagingnonviolence.org/2024/11/10-things-to-do-if-trump-wins/
