Nice username.
“Mess with the best, die like the rest.”
Lol thank you for making that, I had that meme in mind while I was writing that reply.
I mean, I do have RGB lights but it’s not because I’m a software engineer. I’m just a dork.
The article suggested it was a bug, not me. My use of it was only in reference to the article so it’s not a point I’m going to defend.
I agree. There’s also just no reason to give Meta the benefit of the doubt here. Bug or not they’ve done nothing to earn such a charitable response from anyone.
“Constantly” is a ridiculous exaggeration, it’s rare and it’s not some random nagging prompt or anything. It’s tied to software updates wherein the list of default search engines Firefox suggests in preferences is also updated.
Why did my search engine change?
From time to time, Mozilla may update the list of search engines that are available in Firefox or set as default in specific regions. If your default search engine is changed, you’ll receive a notification in Firefox so you can further customize your default search settings.
If you received a notification that your default search engine has changed after updating Firefox, you can keep the new default or set a search engine of your choice.
“I get it. My affiliation with a people search business may look odd from the outside,” Shelest’s statement reads. “In truth, if I hadn’t taken that initial path with a deep dive into how people search sites work, Onerep wouldn’t have the best tech and team in the space. Still, I now appreciate that we did not make this more clear in the past and I’m aiming to do better in the future.”
“Who better to fix the problem than me, it’s creator!” He’s not exactly wrong, it is possible to reform and become an industry leader combating the issue you were once guilty of doing yourself. There are countless examples of that throughout the history of the tech space. However, you absolutely cannot hide that kind of background if you are looking to operate in the privacy and cybersecurity sectors. Doing so is incredibly shady and not the behavior of someone who’s turned white hat.
Mozilla had no option but to walk away immediately and I’m glad they did. They can’t afford to have this stink on their reputation. It’s unfortunate that this information’s only come to light now though.
The article in the reddit post you shared is misleading. According to the S1 filed with the SEC, spez’s current base pay is $450,000; in 2023 he got roughly $792,000 in performance-based bonuses. The rest of that 193 million is options.
One fine day with a woof and a purr
A baby was born and it caused a little stir
No blue buzzard, no three-eyed frog
Just a feline canine little CatDog
CatDog, CatDog, alone in the world is a little CatDog!
Out on the road or back in town
All kinda critters putting CatDog down
Gotta rise above it gotta try to get along
Gotta walk together gotta sing this song
CatDog, CatDog, alone in the world is a little CatDog!
Oh awesome, glad to hear it’s already in the works! I do hope it gets prioritized though. User privacy and security is important.
Made sure that blocking an instance also hides private messages from their users, to prevent harassment.
How about the ability to disable PMs entirely? (With exceptions for local instance admins)
I can assure you, there will never be a scenario where I welcome an unsolicited PM from another user.
Hack the planet!
and scale back investment in its Mozilla.social Mastodon instance.
Well shit, I guess I’m never getting off that waitlist. Of all the services being effected by this news the mastodon instance is a relatively minor loss but I was really hoping it’d work out and thrive in a similar manner to Vivaldi’s instance.
Yeah “envy” is an odd word choice, I’m not sure why they went with that. As far as my understanding goes he was just a garden variety domestic abuser who escalated to the point of murdering his wife in a fit of rage. It’s not that interesting, just another senseless DV tragedy.
That’s the correct explanation. Michael Jace, former star on The Shield (who murdered his wife in 2014) is also serving his life sentence at Corcoran. They’re both considered “high profile” inmates and Corcoran State Prison’s Level IV housing and protective custody units are set up to handle these type of inmates whose fame and notoriety make it dangerous for them to be in gen pop.
Other notable inmates: Charles Manson, Rodney Alcala (The Dating Game Killer), and Sirhan Sirhan (assassinated RFK)
Right? I don’t care what she spends the money on once he loses the appeals and she actually gets it. It’s rightfully hers to do as she wishes. She could retire to a beach somewhere and spend the rest of her life sipping cocktails under the sun for all I care. But it does warm my heart to know she plans to use it for something that’ll piss off that rapist piece of crap.
They also released two “inspired by the movie hackers” albums that were just as good!
