This really is the answer. The more services you add, the more of your attention they will require. Granted, for most services already integrated into the distro’s repo, the added admin overhead will likely be minimal, but it can add up. That’s not to say the admin overhead can’t be addressed. That’s why scripting and crons, among some other utilities, exist!
I’d be willing to bet money that heir leader doesn’t understand that nuance at all. More to the point, if anyone tries to explain it to him, he will keep saying, “but that’s not what he said, he said…”
He was only half-wrong about “playing with WWIII.” Ukraine is just defending its land, Russia & now Trump are playing with WWIII. And one half of that equation can’t comprehend the nuance and subtext of what the other half says and does - and the other half 100% knows this. Unfortunately, I think Ukraine will ultimately pay the price for all this. Trump isn’t interested in a fair deal, he wants a deal at any cost so he can look good and scream about how he deserves a Nobel.
It’s actually a very simple ploy they’ve used since before I was born (I’m not young). Anything they can paint as sexual, or that actually is out of the sexual “norm,” they will use as a scapegoat. They used it against blacks (coming after their white women), gays, and now trans. Pedophilia and rape are the two Worst Things, and if they can tie the Bad Guy du jour, that equals fear-votes. The best kind of right wing votes in all the land.
If I’m ever out there again, I’ll check it out. I enjoyed Bloomington, what I saw of it. Only restaurant I remember is Mother Bear’s. They had some good pizza.

This is a criminally underrated tip. Liquor boxes are seriously sturdy, and the size keeps you from overpacking them.
Also, I started with a pi, added a synology (a NAS is a game changer), and then moved almost all services off the synology to a Beelink S12 pro. Recently upgraded the S12 to 32GB of memory, and I have a 2tb ssd upgrade I have to do soon. All of this is over the past 2-years.
Two sites that really helped me get the basics of docker compose were Marius hosting and Dr Frankenstein’s docker guides. Both are focused more on synology, but the docker stuff works anywhere.

I’m curious about the same thing, but also curious what you’re using your traditional hosting for. I also have had DH shared hosting for years and never had an issue. I don’t know if I’m ready to drop it, but not sure if I still need it.
