Just grabbed Thronefall and have been playing on the Deck a lot. It’s really fun; tower defense meets RTS with great economy. You’re always debating defenses vs scaling and some of the challenges are downright hard

Some good info below. If you have no lineage to anywhere in Europe, there are other options depending on your job and education level (not all encompassing, for sure)

If you get hired for a skilled labor job almost always it’ll result in a visa

Ah congrats on the move, squid. We left the US for the EU in December (planned since the summer) and I can’t imagine a better choice already. I know you’ve got a million things going on, and of course job, housing, etc are all top priority, but I have some lighter advice on getting used to a new place.

To meet some people and make some friends, there are lots of volunteer opportunities. It’s a fun, helpful, community building way to give a little back.

London has a TON of ex-pats/immigrants. Not that the point is to meet a bunch of Americans or anything, but any you do have left for a reason, so they’re more likely to be like minded.

Say “yes” to any bids for connection you can. Even if getting invited to an activity that isn’t your jam, if you get an invite, go! It can be lonely at first, and feel like drinking is the only way to meet anyone. But social circles can spread quickly once you get them a little off the ground.

I thought it was a Form 1116 thing, but I could be wrong for sure. IANAL and haven’t yet done foreign taxes so who knows yet

Yeah, it goes up faster than inflating each year, it seems. 126,400 per person or 253k for married I believe this year, which is a pretty fair bit especially considering you deduct the taxes you locally pay off the top first, afaik

Space is a lot more accessible in the early game, and in space ~~no one can hear you scream ~~ there’s a lot more complications than normal, including really turning factory planning and scaling on its head on one planet.

Really mixed it up, much more than the SE mod did (which was good, but just felt like scaling more than unique challenges)

Yeah, a truck would make me feel better. It’s definitely a risk to move it myself uninsured. For comparison, looks like post tax prices delivered of ~14-18% more in Denmark than the US where we are.

That’s a fair bit, but I’m not sure we’re in the market to try this hard to save a few hundred dollars in such a massive move. I lean towards selling, especially once we packed a big suitcase and it went VERY quick with stuff we love lol
