  • I’ve worked in corporate America long enough to know this is exactly what happens. Companies will look at departments by revenue and just consider everything else expenses. They don’t consider that people won’t buy your hardware without good software support.

I stopped by HP long before their hardware went to shit because their drivers went to complete crap. I know I’m not alone on this. So what did HP do when their sales went down? Did they reinvest in good drivers and firmware? Nope, they just loaded their drivers with adware and made things even worse. When they didn’t work they started using cheaper parts in their printers. The LaserJet printers dominated the corporate landscape 20 years ago. Then they all got slowly replaced by Brother because Brother invested in good drivers and firmware.

  • As someone who was a teen in the 90s and loved the original, this has zero appeal to me. Maybe it’s the trailer but it looks like an edgy crime drama à la The Batman.

It looks like it lost the human interest side to it. Some of the best parts of the original were Eric’s interactions with Sarah or Sergeant Albrecht. That stuff might be in there but the trailer certainly doesn’t make it seem like it.

  • Based on how much I listen to them on an on going basis, my top ones would be:

    • Metallica
    • Slipknot
    • Machine Head
    • Avenged Sevenfold
    • In this Moment
    • Alter Bridge
    • Any combination of Ozzy, Sabbath, or Zakk Wylde

Punk/Hardcore that could be considered metal

    • Blood for Blood (although I think Buddha is a piece of shit)
    • Ramallah (former members Blood for Blood without Buddha)
    • Sick of it All
    • H2O

  • This guy sounds like a text book narcissist. The worst thing you can do is tell a narcissist they are a narcissist. It will do nothing and will only make them double down. The best thing you can do is cut them out of your life.

I had a similar situation when I was in my 20s. Friend I had that I’ve known since highschool would always make remarks about how I got so lucky with my job. Because I was making decent money (more than him) without a degree and he was an engineer. It didn’t matter that I worked my ass off and put in thousands of hours, I was lucky.

If I would ever push back or say something he would just double down. I couldn’t bring up the fact that I didn’t have parents that paid for everything while I was in school, so I had to work and go to college at the same time. I finally realized that was just the way he was going to be, so I limited contact with him. However, his comments never went as far as what you are describing. So, I think you’re doing the right thing by just blocking him.

I highly recommend reading the book Emotional Vampires. It teaches you about the different personality types you’ll run into in the working world and how to deal with each type (when you can’t just avoid them). I wish I had read it 20 years ago.
