What is AMP? AMP is an open-source web component framework aimed at improving the UX of websites, stories, ads and mail. It was first announced by Google in 2015 and has grown considerably since then. But the project has also been subject to a lot of criticism.

AMP threatens the Open Web. For example, Google mobile Search’s Top Stories carousel has a premium position above of all other results, which is only accessible for cached AMP pages. This has the effect of further reinforcing Google’s dominance of the Web.

Other concerns include: the questionable performance boost, the way cached AMP pages keep users in Google’s ecosystem, the obscurity of publisher’s domains on cached AMP pages, the loss of sovereignty of websites, the lack of functionality and diversity on some AMP pages and of course, privacy concerns.

To sum up, AMP and it’s implementation have some major flaws that threaten the Open Web. And as long as that’s the case, AmputatorBot will be there to remove AMP from your URLs.

I have a K750, the battery is about 15 years old with daily use. The original battery was dead when I opened it, I just bought one when it was new, and it’s still going.

In another thread some days ago others shared similar experiences as you, so maybe I’m the lucky one.

I live in a bright flat, and my computer was always near to the window, it’s charge never went below 80-90%, so maybe that’s the reason for its longevity.

If you don’t want to deal with an installer, you can just publish it to pypi. Than direct users to install it with pipx.

There are very good cross platform TUI libraries, I think it’s a 2/B option, to rewrite it that way. By far easier to create a basic UI there, and casual users can also use it easily because they usually just need to use arrow keys. I used InquirerPy and I loved it, but I’m sure there are a lot other ones.

From the whitepaper it seems like you cannot comment at all? Or each comment is a post also, so you need a server, you need to host it to be able to reply? I don’t see a mention how an upvote/downvote system could work.

How this is even similar to reddit? From what I could find it’s much like a topic based microblogging, and it’s a very one way communication. As it’s similar to IPFS and torrent, which are also very one way communication. Seems like an interesting idea, but I don’t see why it was compared to reddit.

Personal opinion, IPFS clones are reinvented about every year, and because they sound very good on paper, but noone could figure out a legit usecase - maybe except piracy - they fail after a while. Maybe if we would become an actual InterPlanetary species with colonies on Mars they could be useful, but until I don’t really see a point trying it again and again and again…

Python is installed by default on all linux and mac systems, so it’s just one more command to install pipx. From there just pipx install tagify. If you publish to pypi it will build the wheel files when you publish a version. That’s the easiest way I know.

Innosetup is windows only. On linux you don’t need such a thing.

Some feedback:

• On white background the text next to the logo is not visible
• Add screenshots in the README, it’s a GUI app
• Requirements.txts for dependency management is the old way, read about pyproject.toml you can merge them a single easy to read and edit file
• “Install the dependencies” means nothing to a non-python developer. Direct users to install your project via pipx, that’s modern and secure way of installing a python application with dependencies for non developers. Publish it to pypi for even easier installation.
• Add a notice that currently it’s windows only os.path.join(os.environ["APPDATA"], "Tagify", "config.yaml") will fail on *nix systems. Use pathlib.Path instead of os.path. Use pathlib, I see on a lot more places it would make your life much easier.
• I have a feeling that the file icons are not your work. If you copied them from somewhere make sure their license is compatible, and add an acknowledgement.

Keep up the work, it seems like a nice project!

In the PKGBUILD file you can list sources (line 12,13) and their respective checksums (line 14,15). In this PKGBUILD there are 2 sources: the first is the systemd unit file, it’s coming from the package’s AUR repo, not from upstream, you can see its checksum. The second source is the actual source, and you can see, it’s checksum is ‘SKIP’ so it shouldn’t be checked.

With these kind of packages you can’t get notified if there is an update available, but if you install it again with your favorite AUR helper it would update itself for the latest version. It calculates version number from the latest commit hash, before building and installing, so if that is the same it won’t update again.

Nix just calls the *.nix files, it’s still go under the hood. PKGBUILD is similar to the flake.nix and package.nix files to me, but I have no experience with nix.

My general view is similar, yaml is better if it should be written by humans, json is better if it should be written and read only by a machine. but hyprspace uses json for configuration, so I don’t really understand cellardoor’s comment
