I think Thore words are not adequate to describe your or my situation.
My main language is English right now because that is what I mostly use. It’s my 4th language. I was 11 when I emigrated for the first time and between then and now I had two other main languages.
I’m not sure how easy it is to get to contribute to Lemmy, they are very big and have to move slow not to break things fo very many users.
I’m part of PieFed https://join.piefed.social/ which is still very small and fast to implement changes. The developers meet in a matrix chat and we know we have a lot to fix when it comes to UX and are eager to work with people knowledgable in this field.
If you’re interested and have some time over I would introduce you to the other guys.
Thanks for sharing the links, most of the pictures are outstanding and fit very well in the series, following the same style and telling so many stories.
I see also the pictures are from 2019, have you been involved in similar projects since then?
Btw. the links to your website on the edgeofhumanity website don’t work.
Perhaps PiewdiePie’s attempt to learn it will shed a light on it for you: https://youtu.be/GPLImB-I71w
Wow, I thought it’s a still frame from a movie. Excellent work!
Where can we see the other pictures of the series?
Because coreboot is the only way for us to be in full control of the hardware. Any other way there is microcode which is closed source and we have no idea what it is doing. It has full control to everything.
What do you plan to do on that graphics card? Is that 20GB VRAM? That sounds nice, but not being a NVIDIA it lacks at least the CUDA cores which are necessary for many AI use cases which I have.
So how would you make a homage at an old jobs by bringing it into the now times without copying the joke and replacing parts of it?
The title doesn’t say it but in the text they’re asking for changes in the languages ;)
Taiwan and China have different writing systems.
South Korea has a huge amount of English words in it’s language while North Korea doesn’t at all.
Most of the time the VPS provider offers some backup solution. It’s not only about your configuration files which can easily be recreated, but about all the user data like pictures databases, etc. Which once lost can’t be recovered.
Best practice is a 3-2-1 backup: https://www.backblaze.com/blog/the-3-2-1-backup-strategy/
But you could back up your stuff on your laptop if you want, it’s not such a bad idea actually. For that you trigger the backup script from your laptop, you can do it automatically there too. This makes sure that the laptop is on while you’re doing the backup.
The easiest way is a crown job and a bash file which runs a couple of rsync commands to get specific files and directories from the server via ssh.
A more involved way would be a backup system like restic, which does a lot of things for you but is a bit more involved to set up.
The main thing of the article is:

Interesting, the color is amazing. When I scrolled by it I just looked at it and the colors relaly cought my eyes. They reminded me of my Nikon D600 which sadly died but had amazing colors too. But those are even deeper better somehow. Great job!
I think the greatest strength is that it is so compatible with other Threadyverse software like PieFed and Mbin. This brings a lot of freedom to the users.

I have to say it looks very interesting, I was looking for something like that years ago and couldn’t find it so I ended up paying for some app for subscription for two years, but it’s always uneasy when they push your very personal data to their own servers.
I was very positively surprised that the first Korean package I scanned was already in the database, because the other app struggles with that a lot.
But the UI is nor really working well on my Samsung S24 Ultra:
And this is only on this view, the other views have similar problems like that text in the menu is centered for some reason instead of aligned left with the icons. Padding is very different for each widget and text, etc.
I still might end up using it anyway and hoping for a more consistent ui down the line anyway ^^
The Apk is already added in the release.
Yeah, I would create a directory in the current working directory and put it there.
So I have only 4 years of AI pictures for me? I’m so looking forward to be 50 now!
Nextcloud it just too heavy I totally agree, and everything feels slow and sluggish.
For just files I use Syncthing and couldn’t be happier, it just works in the background without a central server just syncs the files between phones, PCs and laptops by itself. I set it up like 5 years ago when I had enough of Nextcloud and to be honest most of the time I forget that I have it, but I use it every day to sync my password database for KeePassXC, my music, my private and work documents between all my devices.
