Yep. The guy got a large publicly available dataset (or one his university had access to) and mined it for interesting results to get a publication.

It ends with us is the undercover GOAT of this list, making about 14 times its budget, and with a relatively low cost of $25M.
Everything else cost more than $100M except Kung fu Panda and didn’t return nearly as much proportionally.
I have a withings and I really like it. Their privacy policy made me feel better about allowing my info on the cloud. You can run it offline (it sends weight via Bluetooth to the app but won’t show 7-day trend an scale screen without wifi). I don’t mind that, so I leave it disconnected. I don’t use a home assistant though so I can’t speak to that part.
I have the withings watch also, so I use the app as my catch all health tracker which works well. it’s nice to have everything together. Can’t speak to any others but I’d recommend withings.
Oh Tremors is a great idea! And I’ve been debating whether to watch John Dies at the End because I love the books and wasn’t sure if the movie would be as good. Will add that to the list. Thanks!
Yes we watched that one last October! Totally fits in the vibe. Really enjoyed it. I’m thinking we might do a series of revisits and that’s definitely on the list.
It blows my mind to see so many leaders so nonchalant about genocide.
I loved the original, and enjoyed this one. It was a respectable sequel, especially given how most sequels are hot garbage. Worth a watch if you enjoyed the original movie. Not necessarily theater worthy, but it was pretty great to hear the original Danny Elfman theme playing in the theater during the intro.
$700?!? Are you freaking kidding? I’ll stick with my PC, thanks.
So, I skimmed the article and may have missed it. Why is this anything more that tinkering with and (maybe torturing) mice? What’s the actual scientific value here? (Assuming invisibility potion wasn’t an actual goal)
Perhaps medical dyes for imaging?
It’s especially exciting that there’s an existing medicine that appears to help with the brains waste removal process. Should speed up time to get a treatment out for widespread use.
If they wanted to make this movie a success they should have had ONE PERSON from the writing, directing and (most importantly) casting team sit down and play the games.
I would have fully supported a movie with Mister Torgue running around having adventures. Of course he would be played by John Cena in a mullet.
They lost me the second they announced the cast. It’s like the people making the movie never once opened up a single one of the games.
Kevin Hart as Roland is just infuriating. It shows they had no intention of treating the IP with any level of respect and they just wanted a campy action comedy with famous actors.
Really liked it. I have it on blu-ray and watch it every October as part of my spooky movie series.
It’s great vintage Burton. Depp and Ricci both fit their roles perfectly.
Walken was a weird choice for the horseman, but he does a good job with it and despite being a little outside the norm for Burton film (I know he was also in Batman Returns) Walken doesn’t take away from the movie IMO.
Plus they are bleeding money from all the acquisitions and haven’t seen the return they expected in game pass subs. The cost cutting isn’t done and it would be very surprising for them to try to dump more money into new storefronts when they are still trying to make their own business model profitable (to their expectations).
Biden has come a long way from the good old days of “Diamond Joe”. I’m so disappointed in him for how he’s handling this.
Some interesting info in this article. If game pass hasn’t really paid off (in maintaining growth of new or recurring users), this may be an indication that they will make some changes to it.
Yeah, some of these are just getting extra attention because the plane is a Boeing and media is on the lookout for it. (Probably) not Boeing’s fault, but they will continue to be blamed for all issues on their planes until things are resolved with the investigation. Not exactly fair for Boeing, but they kinda brought this on themselves.
This pic looks like someone put “Henry Cavill as superman getting dressed” into an AI image generator.
The font for the title looks like the font used for Campbell’s soup and I misread it at first thinking rhats what it said and wondered why anyone would make a movie about soup.
This movie looks considerably more interesting. Super excited to see Guillermo in something after What we do in the Shadows.
