  • This isn’t true. R1 trades blows with O1 which is the best model that OpenAI released so far - all the hype on O3 is just vaporware until we have an actual product. Most of the buzz isn’t because China made a comparable model with less, it’s because they released the weights for free.

Why would you pay $200/month to OpenAI when you can use R1 for free? Better yet, companies can now self-host it for better security and way cheaper costs. The hype is warranted.

  • You need to use an LLM with a very long context length, potentially 1 million+ tokens. I don’t know if any local LLMs can even go that far, and if they can, you’ll need an outrageous amount of ram and vram.

But honest question… Why? If you’re planning on generating fake books or stories, it’s not going to happen, you’ll create the most generic barely coherent text.

And fair warning, if you’re trying to sell AI generated stories you’ll quickly be permabanned from any store, so don’t even try it.

  • What’s wild to me is, that Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom didn’t appear once on this list.

Makes sense to me IMO. 2023 was a stacked year, and while TotK was a pretty good game, it was way too close to Breath of the Wild for me to even consider it as game of the year. Other games that could’ve won the award over it include Alan Wake 2, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Hi-Fi Rush, and Octopath Traveler 2.
