I just got a P14s because ThinkPad was the last laptop out there that still had physical buttons (only for the trackpoint, the trackpad is the Apple click-anywhere style that isn’t for me). Even the Dell XPS (RIP) and HP ProBook now have only those, and obscure brands I found in reddit threads that supposedly had trackpad buttons no longer did.
I also strongly prefer the efficiency of middle button and trackpoint scroll to repeatedly scrolling on the trackpad.
End of an era.
Canada got rid of the penny a decade ago, best we can do now is rub our five-cent beavers on each other.
Does anyone remember that social media ad for Elemental that got picked apart online, of someone in an ostensibly full theatre filming the screen then everyone cheering when some character appeared?
You’re telling people to do this.
It may not be reproduced or retransmitted in any form, and the accounts and descriptions of this game motion picture may not be disseminated without express written consent.”
Apparently all the baked goods actually just came from Trader Joe’s, the cake was a lie
Due to Jenner calling her own project and memecoin a ‘scam,’ $JENNER’s market capitalization rapidly plunged to $5 million as confusion ensued and Jenner issued no concrete explanation,” the complaint says. “Investor holdings began losing the majority of their value very rapidly.” But Jenner wasn’t done with $JENNER: she minted another memecoin with the same name on the Ethereum blockchain, and investors–including the plaintiffs–followed her there, too.
There’s an old saying in Tennessee… I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee… that says fool me once, shame on… shame on you.
In the USA/Canada the cheapo ice cream is labeled “frozen dairy dessert”, instead of “ice cream”.
I scroll Lemmy by ‘new’ and what I see is either interesting or not to me, and I see some really good memes, get a decent overview of news stories, and learn some neat things. There aren’t really local channels active for where I am.
I scroll Reddit by /all and what I see actively annoys me, is paywalled, is a repost, or is ragebait (or EPIC PWN RESPONSES to ragebait). I go to my local subreddits and there’s some value among all the paywalled content, repetitive text posts of whinging (stuff like tipping culture, driving habits, the less fortunate downtown etc.), and an overall domination of obviously AI-generated Alexa-like questions followed by sus answers.
I’d scroll Lemmy by ‘new’ any day over Reddit anything, other than for local news events/stories and for sports live threads.
Seems to have been blocked by Mickey Mouse but I just saw it here
I had this happen last night, did the reset sound devices but had to refresh the active tab playing video to get the sound working.
You can also get straight to Volume Mixer in the start menu by typing Mixer, I use it multiple times a day for workflow
Where I am in Canada we have personal pizza machines, coin-op skate sharpening and once I saw a french fries/onion rings one. Coffee vending machines used to be a thing but I think K Cups kind of took that over
Amazing pictures from everyone, where I am in Northeastern Ontario, Canada it’s much less pronounced and barely visible unassisted, but Night Sight took a nice picture
there is a hotwheels r/c version of the cybertruck I wanted to buy for memes, but so many reviews said it would burn out the first day you play with it… I should have bought one for the content (the price got jacked up)
the last I heard of Blade was that it was going to be a cut-rate production and that “the story at one point morphed into a narrative led by women and filled with life lessons, with Blade relegated to the fourth lead” but that was apparently dropped? I don’t follow Disney/MCU like at all, but I came across this story and it stuck with me because it was kinda bizarre.

he did a paid advertisement for gold that talked about how great it is to hold including a segment about how people in the wake of natural disaster used family heirlooms for liquidity
Can’t wait for the YouTube ad featuring Idris Elba about how this was amazing
