I’m a millenial but one of my most conservative friends has parents who are total left wing hippies. Sometimes kids end up rebelling or defining themselves in opposition to certain aspects of their family members.

Unwatchable copaganda /s
I honestly enjoyed this movie. It was like Hideo Kojima made a feature length film. The references to classics like Metropolis were satisfying and the actors all chewing the scenery was fun.
Also loved Coppola creating his own letterboxd account to rate the film 5 stars!
Do Facebook have a streaming service now?
Nice write-up btw
I think he’s just good at self-promotion through coming out with these provocative - and completely arbitrary - takes to stay in the media.
This kind of thing is infuriating. Especially when the actual etymology of “blacklist” is a 17th century play where a list of nobles scheming against the British monarchy is described as a blacklist.
A lot of what makes Hereditary so good is the references to earlier films like Rosemary’s Baby. Horror is a genre that is in a constant dialogue with itself, and often horror films either subvert or adhere to what has come before.
On balance I reckon you should keep it that way. I somehow got dragged along to see Epic Movie when it first came out in cinemas and it is the worst film I’ve ever seen by a country mile.
Scary Movie 3 was my personal favourite. Not sure the Wayan Bros have a lot left in the tank (even if White Chicks was a guilty pleasure film).
Yeah during lockdown I spent a lot of time visiting my sister’s village when she was living on the other side of the world in Australia
Ok I understand the comments here where people are saying they dislike sex scenes that don’t advance the plot. However there are certain movies where sex scenes are essential to the plot such as Boogie Nights. I can also think of examples like The Name Of The Rose where a sex scene is thematically improving the film (in my opinion).
Sex scenes in film/tv are hard to get right but I’d prefer if directors worked harder to capture/deploy them properly rather than a large facet of human experience disappearing during script interventions by producers and studios.
This was the one I was thinking of.
Also the pictures he posts of himself looking sad when he has watched sad movies -
Kevin Smith is a wonderful film maker but I wish there was a way to delete his tweets from the internet lol
The worst part is that all the original stuff in the movie is great but they didn’t have faith in sticking with it.
In the book Anton is a personification of human evil as a natural force a bit like The Judge in Blood Meridian. The film is more ambiguous I think mainly due to the medium making the character more human by being played by an actor.
Lazy listicle. However I am happy Exorcist 2 exists because it meant that we got Exorcist 3 which is phenomenal.
Java class names look like German compound nouns though
Great editing and practical effects. I thought the ending could have been trimmed down a bit but overall had an excellent time. Acting was on point too.
Tech debt is like a hole in your roof that many teams don’t start trying to fix until water is flooding in. Companies missing the business value in addressing tech debt leads to perverse incentives for developers where they are encouraged to cram new features into the product and then leave for another job in 2-3 years before the consequences come knocking.
I pray you get justice one day brother
I really prefer movies to television because they are conventionally self-contained stories without the baggage of lore or familiar characters.
Give me a Hitchcock movie any day over something with a 3 hour runtime and a “universe” it expects me to be familiar with.
