  • I posted the article I read because it happened to be recommended to my feed by a Lemmy stranger. In that way, my post and the OP’s are the same.

I am not in disagreement that journalism can be of higher quality, which is visible difference. But my own actual point is that the trustworthiness ultimately comes down to critical thinking of the reader to decide for themselves and form their own opinions. Dismissing all opinion pieces simply because they are labeled as such limits exposure to information and hinders the ability to discern factuality.

  • I do believe that used to be the case one day in the past, and i agree that often the journalistic pieces appear of a higher standard. But when it comes to telling the unbiased truth i have found i can trust them about the same.

By a general rule, if it is a medium known to be capable of influence public opinion it has been corrupted on some levels. Almost always are lies bundles with truth to further obstruct clarity. The (difficult) trick appears to be to be know ledged enough about the general subject matter to differentiate truth from lies, the source then matters less.

Something recent that made me think of this https://archive.is/G0Lm2 (the irony of posting a piece of journalism is not lost on me)

  • Your anonymity will only hold until you have pissed of someone dedicated to track you down.

And some people do not need much information to do just that. Stories online include finding a location based on the reflection in someones eye or finding a address in London based on a single picture of the window taken from the inside.

Of course you can just not post real pictures and be careful with any details but just the topics you talk on and the hours you are active can give you away.

In the end it doesn’t matter how much actual effort you put in obscuring your real identity, one slip up being found is enough to get the ball rolling. And if people hate you they will gladly keep it rolling.

  • This right here is why i am inherently incompatible with the modern job market.

My brain is wired to solve complex abstract problems not having to deal with subjective social intrigue in which i’ll always be perceived as some weird idiot because people don’t know what i am talking about half the time.

The only way someone can be convinced i am neither dumb or to disabled to work is because they objectively looked at my work ethic and results so the look on their face shifts from uncanny disturbed to uncanny impressed.

I did land a good job in a non profit sector where people around me do respect me. I am never changing. If i ever lose this job i am not sure i will ever find something else.

  • I have even given it my own name, the conscious shift

Describing the contant momentum and flow of our state of mind.

Meditation is quite useful to observe this yourself.

My theory is that you develop the first state within the comfort of the womb, it is contrasted with the suffering of your first shift your birth , your early existence is you in confusion trying to shift back to that first comfort, you can’t but end up finding something similar in your mothers lap.

As you age the shifts form patterns: sleep itself, the groggy feeling after waking up, you washing down that feeling it with caffeine. You try to stay focused at work, then you try and relax as you come home. We are always trying to travel to the comfort states we know.

Learn the patterns and you control your life.

This is also how drug addiction form btw (in my subjective observation) when the patterns off the conscious shift are so that its the only state where you are comfortable.

  • Personally i figured out my brain changes on the spot every second. Its not surprising that deeper pattern occur over longer times.

I am not the same person at work as at home, with or without people. I feel different at night then day, my skills and energy levels have their own prime hours.

Just sitting down or putting on some music can already greatly affect my conscious state.

All of your environment is context for your mind, in some ways you are your environment, at the very least you reflect it.

    It’s all set and setting.

I have not read the article btw
