The moment on the View where she said she couldn’t think of anything she’d do different from Biden (which made lots of undecideds say “four more years of inflation and border chaos!”), and then said she’d put a Republican on her cabinet (which made lots of progressives say “both sides are the same!”) really epitomized her problem.
Among other things, she should have just thrown Biden right under the bus and gone with a campaign message of “anything you didn’t like about the last four years was his fault and I’m gonna fix it (“how?” “It’s complicated, here’s a fifty page policy brief you’ll never read.” “I like how prepared you seem!”), anything you did like about the last four years was me pushing Biden to do good.” Like, I personally would have been more enthusiastic about my vote for her if she was more progressive, but I actually don’t know if she needed to be, she just needed to get on board with the premise that most people wanted something “better” (different) than Biden and then define “better” to be whatever she was proposing.
Except Tammy Baldwin and Rashida Tlaib and like half a dozen pro reproductive healthcare ballot measures won last night
Also, I don’t know how exactly we make America less sexist, but drawing a better contrast with the Republican party seems like a tangible and actionable thing
When we’re talking about whether “Kamala” is fine, I think we need to be specific as to what we’re talking about. Like, I think running a non-white woman who occasionally laughs on camera is fine, but running someone who’s flip flopped on Medicare for All isn’t.
Given that a lot of these questions essentially boil down to “what will you do when state and federal police do what Donald Trump tells them to do?”, the answer for me personally is probably “wish the Biden administration hadn’t given those shitheads so much funding while being beaten to death”
Lots of people didn’t survive four years of Trump
There was a donor revolt that finally did him in, but it’s not like they did it because he was being some crusading progressive champion they couldn’t support, they saw months of protests and crappy poll numbers and started to realize voters were really serious about not wanting to vote for Biden, and then the debate made them finally really realize why. Like, the wealthy and powerful were involved in this, but it was the actual voters who got those people to come to their senses and do what they should have done months ago.
Idk if their legislation was the end all be all for gun control, but the facts are that the Democrats tried to raise the minimum purchase age to 21 and the rally shooter yesterday was 20
No no, they’re going to all suddenly realize the error of their ways and thank the Democratic party for attempring to pass gun control legislation that would’ve raised the minimum age to purchase an assault rifle any second now I’m sure /s
Homeless people with French citizenship are being left alone entirely I’m sure /s
Fuck the NYT for so many reasons, but they’d be lying to their readers if they weren’t shitting on Biden
Gerrymandered Congress, no campaign finance laws, bought and paid for judiciary - Allow us to introduce ourselves
They’re very good at identifying talented developers /s

Sault’s “Foot on Necks” is a great anti police brutality anthem, and a big chunk of all their music has messages like that
Say She She’s “Norma” is all about the end of Roe v Wade
“George Floyd” by the Log Bay Ramblers is some nice and direct bluegrass folk music
The internet fractured culture and there is no one thing everyone is watching or listen to anymore and I don’t know how I feel about that
Kind of off topic, but I’ve just gotta add that the safety shutters over the positive and negative terminals that only open when the ground pin (which is longer than the others on the plug) is inserted up top is brilliant, it basically makes short circuiting impossible. Electrical outlet design is one of the few things I’ll concede the UK does better than the rest of the world.
