My spending habits have certainly changed.

I love the idea of getting people behind boycotts. But I wonder if it actually does anything for extremely large companies? For example, Amazon seems too large to fail, considering they serve the wealthiest areas of the globe.

I genuinely don’t know what the solution is when it comes to businesses where you would purchase actual necessities like groceries. It seems very difficult to fully detach oneself from the system.

All that being said, I think it’s great people are trying. At the very least, it helps make people aware of what smaller, local options they have, and that shift in support likely makes a massive difference for those smaller businesses.

Broadly decreasing my spending, personally. The less USD trade you do, the less you contribute to the colonial death machine. Trying to cut from megacorps first, and generally reduce all spending from there. The only money I am happy to spend is buying art directly from queer artists. Everything else is on the chopping block.

I’m still happy to give my business to the local brewery that shut down for a day because of extreme cold at the start of the month and still paid its employees for the day. And HEB, because they’re the least bad option for groceries. But otherwise, I’ve drastically curtailed the businesses I frequent – admittedly, partially for lack of income.

Yeah anecdotally I was about to buy a new iPhone and iPad autumn last year, but changed my mind after the us election. Guess I’ll keep using what I’ve got for a while and then probably get something second hand when things actually start to break.

I want to get off T-Mobile and move away from my Apple products. But everything I could switch to sucks too.😭

Gotta love market concentration! Two viable mobile OS’s and three providers … my internet is a T-Mobile hotspot, and my phone service is Mint, so still T-Mobile. But between the two, I’m paying about $67/month, which is lower than most postpaid plans.

It’s frankly absurd to me that people are willing to pay $90/month just for cell service in an era where Wi-Fi is everywhere.
